I have them in 3 of my cars and have set up four other friends with them. No problems so far.

Disclaimer - I work for them, but the above is 100% true.

I have the ignitor with the flame thrower coil. I cant speak for the ignitor3, but the products seem pretty top quality

Ya know...this was my original plan but I was TEMPORARILY DISTRACTED
by something I got in my eye...a flashy, cheap adverti*****t...

...but now...I'm back on track...I think...I just don't know anyone personally running one...a couple things in my favor...I'm nowhere near
that stage yet SO I got PLENTY of time to FIND some new friends!!!!

    Seriously...that was my original plan....

Pertronix system, MSD-6AL box has some features that work really well, the MSD
box connects directly to your battery as well as your coil wire, and the voltage to the coil comes directly from the box, so the weak 8-9 volt factory coil voltage is no longer a concern.

You can get the maximum voltage to the coil...VERY easy....

The 6AL box has a rev limiter that has a small module that can be inserted to tailor the engine cut-off to your particular engine’s needs. These are available in 100 rpm increments, so just about any cut off point will be available...not much eaiser that that...

You cannot use the Ignitor III with a box, nor would you want to since the I III has multi spark (that goes all the way to red line, not just to 3K like the MSD) and a Digital rev limiter built in.
You can use the Ignitor II or original Ignitor with an MSD box

So besides the fact that you don't have to mess with points,do they really make a big improvement in performance?

  9. i got the 3 and they could not furnish a coil [no stock] and burnt the POS out and was not real happy then had to deal with jegs on a return and ton of mistakes
got two pertronix 2 i am running now and like them, you need the coil with them,
started my nailhead yesterday and in cold starts and runs good seems to have a large amount of spark

a lot of people deal with engines that have problems that are caused by bad ign , not bad carburetion, fix the ignition first a lot easier that way:D

I am also runing a Pertronix module on a HEI and think it is great seems to put out a hot spark

I got an immediately better idle with the one I put in my old Mustang years ago. Better fuel mileage too.

I bought two for my 47 dodge in cause it goes out away from home, I don't think I could go to any of the mom and pop auto parts store located on the remote backroads in my area where I like to drive and buy a fresh module.
But then I am a belt and suspenders kind of guy:eek:
So yes every thing runs better and you will notice the improvements. Did I mention I keep points in my glovebox too!!!

I have the Pertronix 2 and it starts easier and seems to rev smoother. I have never had great luck keeping points set right though. I will say I have had 0 problems with the Pertronix unit and would try the 3.

Converted my dual point Mallory in the flattie to it, had the local speed shop dial it in on the old distributor machine to 24 degrees max advancement....couldn't be happier.

I am running pertronix in my heap.. no issues what so ever but if I had the extra cash I wouldve went msd all the way but was on a budget build..Long term goal was to buy everything so that when i can afford to build a 347 sbf i would have everything else all set up for performance, ign wise.. But all in all very happy and easy to install... I threw the stock elect ign ford set up in garbage, installed a points dizzy and pertronix..

I have one in my roadster and one in my Falcon. Falcon is about 10 years old so it would be a 1 or 2 I guess and the roadster is the same. Big difference in spark advance and stability. No bounce, accurate timing at all RPM and soooooooo simple to install. I do use the Pertronix coil in both applications.
My buddy has one in his pickup that he has had in there for at least 25 years.

bobby i think they are about 225 to 250 for a new one, why not just buy the kit for your distributor, should be much cheaper like 100 bucks?

Originally i bought the Ignitor for my truck (454 with mallory dual point) Right from the start the Ignitor burnt out. They replaced it with the Ignitor II and i didnt have any trouble since. A week after i installed the Ignitor II i learned they had released the Ignitor III. Figures....

I've got an OT travelall with a 392 coming in soon. Do they make an ignitor 3 for a Holley dist.?

I've converted all my old points distributors to Pertronix. Love not changing points, and I hate the big bulky HEI distributors that are in later engines. I'm using the Pertronix 2's in mine.
