so heres what i have ben up to the last few weeks. i used 2 model a frames. a 59 ford truck front i beam a ford 9" in the rear. a vw bus steering box alond with what ever i can swapmeet, junkyard find or get for free. pics are kinda ****py due to lack of light -james
How'd you do the front axle? Is it the stock width still? I have a '64 Ford truck axle & had never considered it for a set-up like yours. Like you said- the pics are kinda bad, so I can't see too many details.
the axle was like that when i got it. someone shaved off the spring perches and welded on bat wings(they look like the weld-on ones from speedway).i had to relocate the lower clevis mount to clear my tie rod. its still stock i think 56" from kingpin to kingpin. its 6 "wider than the 9" i got in the rear. the front end will look mean with that wide wheelbase and tall tires. ill get some better pics up when i can.
Plus you can use up both lanes of traffic keeping those annoying tourists from p***ing you!? Or move up north, add a blade and grade roads? I bet ranchers would love that for herding cattle? Should I go on? You do know 56" is a FOOT wider than most front ends? Thats a big C clamp.
