Let's See Picts!! '47-'54 Chevy AD Trucks On S-10 Frames

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Arrowood Rod & Kustom, Jan 10, 2011.

  1. I know there is a lot of threads on s10 frame swaps but I thought it would be interesting to see pictures in progress and maybe some finished picts of your trucks with the s10 frame swaps..also diagrams, specs or any other info that you used or advice would be cool too..a lot of the threads I looked through didn't have many pictures and didn't give many details so I thought this thread could help myself and others on doing one of these swaps on AD trucks

saw this thread expecting a bunch of pictures..whats the deal, nobody did any of these frame swaps on the HAMB? I'm thinking about doing one soon, but worried about what all mounts need to be made

  4. Don't worry as much about the mounts, be thinking about radiator and steering, the mounts are E-Z in comparison.

what do you do for the radiator & steering?

  6. FLAHotRodder,

First, remove the lower portion of the rad supt., it will not fit between the s-10 frame horns, fab up some mounts to attach the suppport to the frame, keeping them simple, I purchased a rad from speedway narrow and short enough to fit the support.
For the steering you have to fish the columns lower shaft around the headers with bearings to change the angle to alighn it with the box.
To be real honest with you guys, if I had to do it over, (I will probably get blasted for saying this but) I would look real hard at a dakota chassis for the simple fact that the front frame horns are wider the rack and pinion steering behind the cross member and I think it is a little bit wider track. Just my .02.
