I had to chuckle at the first response to this post! I think anyone over 35 see's something over 16" and thinks automatically....its a hoopty aka bro-ham!

Most pickups come factory with 20" wheels now, My wife's OT daily is a small olds coupe and has 16" wheels from factory.

I'm guilty of being quick to jump on something i don't like either, but that's why we have Ford, Chevy, and Dodge!

Uh, you could get a Model A with 21" wheels. It is not the size, per se. It is the style.

For whatever my opinion might be worth, I think you already nailed the perfect look on your car.

With the build style of your car, I would try to find some large diameter solid steelies before I put a big window Halibrand style wheel on there. You've got a very solid late 50's/early 60's build style to your car, and the aluminum wheels are going to look way out of place.

  12. Try calling Phil at PSE Wheels. I found his number online - (310) 534-4477.

I'm pretty sure he makes a few different halibrand styles. He makes his own centers up, so maybe he could do something custom. Not sure if he will...but could be a place to start.

I had a set of his halibrand style replicas on a Cobra and the quality was amazing.

I'll probably catch hell for posting this link, but I dig the big window Halibrand style myself and am not opposed to the bigger diameters when done right. Check these out.

It's all about getting the right amount of sidewall in play and getting the proper stagger for the classic "big-n-littles" look. It may not be traditional but it sure does look badass on the right car (as in just about anything Alloway has built).

Much thanks for the link, Chris 50. I've been looking for this exact wheel and the closest I'd gotten to it so far was a new wheel from BonSpeed but it didn't have enough "dish" like the ones Alloway has made.

  16. Car looks perfect now.

p.s. is that masking tape on the frame? Hope it comes off easy!

I knew i wasn't the only one on this form that liked wheels larger than 14"....on TRADITIONAL hotrods ...i prefer it stated..."there's a seat for every AZZ" ...
