Every time these Baileigh contest come up a bit about no "pro" shops and tech with no tools, let the litttle guys win comes up. Honestly, this at***ude irratates me (and I do take it personally after some like comments directed at me for one of my tech articals). If you guys care to pay attention, most the tech posted for the Baileigh contest have been back yard low buck stuff and the top runners and winners have been those. We all benifit from all the tech posted, I don't want to miss learning something a pro can do, with or without high buck tools because he can't enter. You want a backyard guy to win, vote that way, simple enough.
Thanks Shane for possibly stepping up again, these tech weeks are the highlight of the HAMB for me!

That is a good point. If you want shade tree tech, then vote that way.

    Metalman logic....I like it

To be honest, I run these contests constantly on many forums and I find that it is all about the article. A guy in the garage with a hammer and stump can easily beat a guy with a pullmax and a yoder in his shop. Spending time with a camera, writing a little and maybe even a you tube video will dominate over some big shop with a few pictures of nice cars in it.

Remember......the first winner we had on the HAMB was just a young kid.

Oh, this is no different than the outright hatred of "Gold Chainers" or "vintage parts hoarders". It's jealousy, big, fat, green, jealousy. It shouldn't matter what the skill level or pay grade is so long as you can take something away from the tech given.

When I said I just wanted the opportunity to win I meant, an opportunity to enter the contest. I didn't mean that I didn't want pro shops to enter. Hell, I could give a **** who enters. I just want a shot at getting my tech voted on. If you guys think mine is **** so be it.

Let's see all the ideas. I'm an open minded guy.

    Thanks again!

How about making something for your hot rod or custom car using items or tools not typically ***ociated with automotive use? I always get a kick out of seeing people's ingenuity in that regard... The results are sometimes astonishing (other times... not so much, but...)

The offer of free tools to the winner is great and generous. I personally like the sharing of knowledge be it from a pro or a rookie. I love tech articles no matter how simple or complex. PS, find "The Big ****" avatar a pleasant detraction:D

I'm in too, with a pair of ****ons for one of the runners up.

It ain't a free tube notcher, but at least second or third place won't go away completely empty handed.

    :D

EDIT: There's that avatar again. Good man.

I'd love to get ANY of your metal shaping equipment,..I was looking at a tubing bender a while back.
As far a TECH WEEK, any submission from me would only result in me loosing an appendage or two!

is it me or has there been a lack of tech articles since it became a Baileigh contest?

It must just be you. I'm seeing some good stuff lately, just not in a tech only format.

I have been working on a couple tech article ideas but if it's a video, I'm out. You don't want to see my hairy crack all over the internet!
