Just so happens I'll be in SoCal spittin distance from the Grand Daddy Roadster Show, planning on sneaking a day in, but with one day to see it all, is there a right way or wrong way to hit it? They don't let us rednecks down here in Bama out much and don't know if I'll get another chance like this, so I don't wanna waste my time making virgin mistakes if I could learn a trick or two from the my fella HAMB'rs. I'm all ears...
We went last year on Friday. We were there when the gates opened and it took us all day to get to everything. We closed the place down. I wish I was going again this year. Have fun!
How many tip and tricks do you need to go to a car show. Get there early plan to stay late. Eat hot dawgs and look at stuff. Its just like going to the zoo except the animals are running loose and some of the caged stuff is shiney.
I go every year and i'll say....Just take lots of pic's and enjoy yourself! Go back through the buildings more than once, cause you'll miss stuff!
dont forget the meet and greet on saturday! Saturday tends to have more cars drive in to the show for the day only, so there is a higher car count then.
Take camera....SPARE BATTERIES....and make sure you have plenty of room on your memory card...of have lots of that there film stuff....and don't forget BATTERIES
avoid the food inside the buildings. much better stuff outside. make sure to walk all the way to the end. there is another small building past the hall where the main stage is, and there is always cool stuff in between as well. try to make the cackle sessions if you've never been up close and personal with a nitro motor.
I plan on going on Sunday, since I'm going to the Orange County gun show on Saturday (need to stock up on ammo before February and the new Kalifornia laws kick in...) I am an ex magazine editor, with all my camera gear still - so I'll be taking my big digital Nikon to shoot photos. I'll be sure to post up this coming week, as long as the stuff looks presentable (I'm afraid my photography skills are a bit rusty).
"Tips or Tricks for a Grand Nats Rdstr Shw Virgin" Wear a condom, cuz you're sure to cream yourself the first time!
Bring walking shoes...plenty to see...sit and enjoy the view! Bring lots of coin...the beers and food aren't cheap!
"They allowed me to monitor airspeed & altitude, 40,000 ft/600mph - unreal to think guys like Doug Robinson (CA) are building deuces churning out a tenth of that on the Flats! Dude! Doug's #66 BMR roadster set the C/FR record @ World Finals last year at 273+ with Fogie driving; that's closer to half (actually 45.5%) than a tenth. vic
Thanx for the catch vic, meant 1/3rd but wrote fat fingered tenth...long flight what can I say. And true their roadster is much faster than the deuce but my love is their coupe. My next bucket list day's gonna be Bonneville, maybe I'll be lucky enough to be there when they bring it outta retirement. Man I'm siked about today, been up since 5 - hit Limeworks yesterday, Steve and fella's were full of Southern comfort for me to do the garage crawl...don't mind spending hard-earned greenbacks with blokes like them, only a little too shiney for my ride. Today gonna try and hit So-Cal for the tour and then run to the gate opening at high-noon. Hope to see y'all out there, definitly wanna try and find the "cackle sessions" thanks for the tip. Wish I had more than a day but I'll take what I can get. Many thanks
Someone already said it but I can't stress enough... wear your most comfortable shoes! Also, try to do the various buildings in an order of some sort. Every year I try to, and every year I see coverage of that one building I missed.... And I usaully go two days!
