Back in 1978 I was working at a Chevron Gas Station when this guy pulls in a dark blue 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang. He leaves it running as I pump the gas. He opens the hood and my stomach dropped as I see the 428, dual quad, 4 speed. The good old days.

I had the brakes go out and the pedal drop completely to the floor on my 61 Vette "back in the day", and that definitely took my breath away.

  7. This one pretty much takes my breath away:eek:

    But I don't think that's how you mean:D

When my dad picked up his new Chevrolet C10 in 1963, there on the showroom floor was a metallic blue Corvette Stingray coupe, with black interior... I wanted to know why my dad wasn't taking it home. I was seven, and a real PITA about it, too. I remember breathing hard!

The car that takes my breath away now is an early Bentley Continental Type-R, and just about every hot rod and custom I see (yes, I am an autoholic slut.), but especially the 1940 Mercury of Buddy Ohanesian by Bertolucci, which I also first saw when I was seven...

There may be cars that will take your breath away, but this is more effective. :D

Look quick and save the pic if you like it, this may get deleted ;)

Yes many years ago when I put a 49 Ford head-on into a 59 Chev. station wagon at 50 mph.

Took my breath away, a few ribs, a leg bone, a wrist and my drivers license for a year.

I actually think it's a really cool rolling example of American folk art.

But here's one that really took my breath away...and it wasn't just the nitro fumes!
