I clicked on the Me*** Auction last night and saw that the Sox and Martin car,Grumpy's Camaro,"Grumpy's Toy", Vega, and Bob Glidden's Pinto, were all up for auction. They were set up like a Starting Line, next to the stage.
How cool would it be, to get one of those famous cars????

I think they're all slotted to go across the block tomorrow. Buddy of mine is going over there to watch.

My favorite is the Pinto! I remember seeing it run. What a MONSTER!

The camaro is a "tribute car" so says Dennis Ferrara,a previous owner of the real one!

  7. Gots to be real careful with all those cars. There were many duplicates raced back in the day, and now there are tons of clones and tribute cars floating around. There would need to be strong do***entation to justify the big money.

I love the way these cars get recycled. Grumpy's Vega was at Barret Jackson only a couple of years ago. May have even been last year. It went for arounf $500k. Now it's back up for grabs. around the same time at BJ, Dyno Don's Maverick rolled across the auction block.

I think these cars should be brought out of storage and run as a nostalgia cl*** somewhere... anywhere. Remember the dry hops, the multiple rosin burnouts across the line (like 5 or 6), the screaming small blocks vs. the brute force of the Big Blocks and Cammers and of course real 4 speeds with the front end getting air on the first 2 shifts.

That was back when the cars didn't all look like a football with a hood scoop and there was diversity within the brands. If you were a Mopar fan, at any given event you could cheer on a Cuda, Duster, possibly a Demon or even a Colt with big ol hemi. At one point everyone was chasing a 4 door Maverick and an AMC Hornet. Heck, if you were an AMC fan you could cheer on Javelins, Hornets and more than a few Gremlins

If you're too young you missed out on a treat

It would be cool to run that Pinto or the Vega at the Hotrod Reunion....
