Just had the removeable section of my floor pan blasted with aluminum oxide and getting ready to weld up a few pinholes. Following that I'm going to have it powder coated. Can anyone suggest a metal treatment that I can use to prevent rusty fingerprints and such while I'm repairing the pan that won't effect powder coating

  2. Wear latex gloves. Wipe down with lacquer thinner, wrap in newspaper or put it in a large garbage bag. If rust spots develop your powder coater can touch up the blast job. He will most likely want to hit the welded spots anyway.

It is not weather you have rusty finger prints or grease on the part, it is how well your powdercoater can deal with these things. Guys with a gun and an oven cant. A shop who can remove rust with a hot tank and give it a conversion coat before powder wont care about finger prints and oil.
