The s10 t-5 tailhousing has the shifter location further forward and will clear the bench seat.

Oh ok i didnt know that about the S10 5 spd! Does anyone know if the FORD version will fit with the bench seat too? If not, im gonna have to get rid of my ford t-5 and look for an s10. Anyone know what year tranny i should look for? Hell i could get that adapter then for the Flattie and do the chevy t-5 conversion and run the 5spd on the flattie for a while too. let me know what you guys would suggest

It's TRUE - we ARE cool ! Ha Ha :D !! I didn't change my name ... I just talk with an accent & people THINK I'm Swedish ! Locals are used to seeing me driving vintage Volvos .

I was beaten to the punch about the shifter location . IIRC , the ones with the rear-oriented shifters are called "world transmissions" - maybe someone can confirm this ? This topic just came up (locally) about putting a t-5 into a Model A , and the same end decision came up - need the S-10 shift setup .

the tranny i have is a Tremec World Class T-5. Looking like its not going to work then huh? Kind of sucks b/c it only has about 20,000 miles on it but oh well! Is there a difference in the years of the s10 t5? Im glad i found this out now, because i was sitting in my 50 yesterday and i was thinking "man there is not a lot of room between the seat and the dash, even with the seat all the way back!" It will be a tight fit, especially if its not close to center between the dash and the front of the seat. im up for suggestions!

Maybe you could do an estimation measurement . Measure the trans from the front edge of the bellhousing to the spot where the shifter comes out , then take that measurement to the inside of the car , taking into consideration the thickness of the firewall "padding" & a little extra to where the bell will meet the engine . See just how close it'll be to the bench seat .

For curiosity's sake , please post-up the measurement you get from the front of the bell flange to the shifter .

Yea im gonna have to take some measurements, see what i can use. Well i was workin on the 50 today and finally got it to fire up and run! it took some fresh gas, starting fluid, and a new farm tractor battery haha. IT was running pretty decent for about 10 mins and then i noticed the oil filter canister puking oil onto the head so i shut her down before the mess got even bigger haha! but hell i got it to run and it hasnt been started in about 2 yrs so that was cool. gonna throw a new gasket in the canister and take it out on a couple of back roads to see how she shifts and drives.

Hey guys, i took some measurments 2nite on my Tremec t5 to compare to the s10 t5. With the bell housing bolted on, the measurement is about 25.5" from the engine mounting side of the bell, to the center of the shifter mount. from the back of the bell housing, where the tranny bolts up, it is 18.5" to the shifter mount. i will have to compare it to the s10 t5 and see the difference. Hopefully this will help someone else out too. Just so you know, the model of my tranny is the Tremec World Class T-5 so there is no confusion. thanks guys!
