    Hey Guys!

Two flat tires (over a .5 mile winter commute o_O) later I'm getting serious about new rubber for my 62 Thunderbird. I've got brand new chrome smoothies lined up for it but I'm having a heck of a time finding narrow whites in a 215/65R15 that don't cost $200 a tire.

Just bought a house and getting married in two weeks so BUDGET is very much on my mind. This car is a driver and not a trailer queen so I'm not worried about the tires being pristine, but I would like to go with a white striped sidewall (around 1" thick) if possible.

Every source I used to have for these tires is dried up, at least in that size. Nobody seems to make an affordable (read: cheap) tire in with a white stripe in that size.

Anybody have thoughts on where I can look?

You won't find narrow whites in that particular size because that size came to be long after narrow whites were on every car on the road. You might find narrow whites in a size like 205/70-15, or definitely 205/75-15. I just bought four 185/75 -14 narrows from Pep Boys last month, and they were inexpensive and seem to be very good quality. Mounted them on a set of Tru-spokes for our '62 Falcon wagon... They look great! I'll get some pictures of them mounted and on the wagon soon.

I'm on the hunt for some white lines myself. I was in Sams Club last week and asked about them. They had a set of BF Goodrich tires with about a 1/2" white stripe that were 215/75/R15. They also had a set of Michelins with a slightly thinner line, but the Michelins were of course more expensive. I think the BF Goodrich tires were around $70 a piece. I didn't think that was too bad.

  4. Try a cooper tire store. Mine were 76 a pop mounted and balanced a couple of years back they couldn't have tripled in price since then.

Do you have a Big O near you?
That is where I got mine, but now I can't find the listing for white lines. But they have em.

They are available from your local Firestone dealer or Sears. Good tires... not expensive and good looking

+1 on the Firestone F380's, I'm currently running them on the front of my 34. Seem to be wearing well didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Looks like the firestones had some issues with recalls. Anybody else have a good source for cheap 1" whitewall tires?

fr380 is a discontinued tire, they dont have many left anywhere, you could try fleabay, found some mastercrafts from universal tire. If anyone finds a good source for the thin whites post it up.....alot of people are looking for them also.....

Cooper Tires 02917 - Cooper Tires Trendsetter SE Tires 215 65R 15. Found these at summit but you should be able to find them locally (or another online tire shop). Not to terrible to ship. I'm considering these for my 58 F100. Cooper is a good brand and US made as far as I know. Good luck

Mastercrafts are good small WW tires.

  12. Try Cooper tires. I don't know if they will have them but it is worth a try.

OK then I posted twice on this thread once last year and once this year. Must be the drugs or someone bringing up an old thread and me not reading the date or the entire thread.

I hope that the OP hasn't been walking all this time.

Reviving this thread, looking for a very narrow white in a 205/75/15, any suggestions?
Anyone know how wide the WSW is on the Hankook Optimo H724?

    Thanks,

    Paul

  16. Unless you're looking for brand new tires, you can get these for $80 the set. And they look like they have lots of tread left. Found these on Kijiji Montreal today.

If found 14" and 15" at Tire Rack, but going to check local after Thanksgiving. If can't find local, will order from Tire Rack. Prices good, shipping reasonable. They will provide installer, and ship to installer if you prefer.
