  1. As far as I know he does still have his collection and yes he is still racing the new CJ's. I've also been told he has been buying quite a few vintage Ford NASCAR race cars and a large NASCAR parts collection.

    Brent Hajek has also been working with Danny Thompson to try to break some records at Bonneville. He also built a Mustang for Bill Elliott to attempt to break a speed record (at Atlanta I think??) but the car had a blow out and hit the wall. I've seen several of his videos on Youtube.

    I have no real knowledge of the car but was once told by someone who worked with Ford at the time that it was built on a Falcon platform which moved some of the wheelbase. I don't know what the difference would be as I have never compared the two.

    My understanding was that it was buried at Bagwell's shop and attempts to later find it were unsuccessful.

    The Falcon and Comet wagons used the same platform,so the wheelbase would be the same.It would be hard,not impossible,to move the rear wheels much on a 4 door wagon,the tires almost touch the body when stock.I speak from personal knowledge[I have a 65 wagon]. ROY.

    Roy- Do the wagons carry the extra space behind the leading edge of the opening, much like how I lengthened the opening on my Comet to accomodate the larger tire, and alter it as well. Or, is just nothing there due to the door edging being "right there"?

    Thanks for your answer- Dale

    I guess no one was buying down there. A no sale at 72k , Reserve not met. This would've looked good in the garage also.

    Dale;there is maybe two inches at most,things are pretty tight ahead of the rear tire,I did stretch mine about 1". Mr Squirrel;I do have photos but my printer-scanner is down right now.The car is not finished,most body work is done,driveline is in[302,4-speed,3.55-8",4 piston K-H discs].I still need to plumb it and wire it then send it to paint jail.It is 3 years behind schedule,it is to be a daily driver!! very very awesome thread! 7 hours to go threw all 141 pages...My first car was a 66 Cyclone. I sold it along time ago. I have been playing around with a 65 Fairlane since 1989. I have been wanting to get another Merc...64 Comet. Years ago at the first ever Fords@ Carlisle show I fell in love with a 64 Comet for sale on the back of a rollback. It was weathered burgandy paint had a three point rollbar, strait axle with torque thrust wheels on the front, chrome steelies on the rear,tear drop hood....$1500.00 dallors could have bought that car then.....the car " Shake Rattle and Roll " I do have a picture of it sitting there for sale ...I would like to find out more history on this car....need to fix scanner/copier

    I did see in post1992 ...two picture of it....one looked to be the stock style front suspension

  23. Beautiful car indeed! "Shake Rattle and Roll" Here are a few I have with stock front and the other two have a straight axle with injection set up! I have a bunch more of this car..just have to go through a few boxes to find them! Wish I could erase the blue 55 Chevy in the one pic from Maple Grove Drag-o-way? Enjoy :)

    Speaking of Bruce Larson, The last Ford that he was the driver for sold yesterday for a couple of dollars. Hope the new owner got at least a T - shirt also.

    $ 875,000

    Wickedjohn,
    Next time out that way I'm going to have to come over and take a look through your picture box. Definitely got some good stuff in there.

    Love the Shake Rattle and Roll Comet.
