I mostly build jeeps, so I have a bunch of 47 to 62 willys pick up parts. I was thinking one might look good as a g***er style truck, does any body have pictures of drag race willys pick ups, or wagons or panel trucks?

The Willys pu in my avatar ain't no g***er,not with 70 hp.But it does have 4 wheel drive and a low range that'll tow a drag car through a mud pit.
For some of us,the hot rodding starts where the road ends.............

  9. Mine makes more than 70 Hp. Not a whloe lot more I'm afraid.

The raven and I have been kicking around a concept. If you get your front axle and rear setup for one of these. well one like mine that is already a V-8 truck. A couple of fellas could swap in the hot engine and ****** combo with the straight axle and big rear in a weekend. go racing at an important race. the switch it back to 4 Wd the following weekend and be ready for winter.

    Just something to think about.

Those trucks look great any way you want to do the^^ as long as you keep the hood, stock grill and front fenders on the^^.

They would look great low and chopped too if this wagon is any indication.

This one has been around the PNW for a long ti^^e and is still a favorite of ^^ine.

I was thinking straight axle in front, spring over ,nail head, build it like an early willys pickup g***er .

I think gary kollofski(sp) built a couple in the 70s or 80s, but I think they were kind of pro street.

    Cool truck rusty1

Rusty I like your concept. Just swiped Rusty1's picture and I''ll try to come up with a Photoshop like you have in mind. This would be a cool build.

    that would be great!

That drag truck is cool , but alittle too high, not much style< bed and fenders are clunky, front axle too far back etc , but it is along the lines I was thinking

Rust, I made a post much like this one back in '06' didn't go very far and most of the pics are gone, except for the photoshop of a pick up I did.

The old Willys utilities don't get much respect around here but I'm kind of partial to mine. I've had it since 1985 and anyone that doesn't think its a hotrod has either never been for a ride in it or paired off against it. 25 years later, its getting faster, lighter and I'm getting slower, heavier.

You can do that...Or just build it with Dana 60 front and rear axles,a heavy ****ing duty transfer case and a 550 hp big block for 4 wheel traction,no slicks needed
Actually I bought the Willys for myself and thought about a 200 hp V-6 swap that the stock drive line can handle ok.Then my wife just traded her 50 Chevy PU to me and took the Willys.
