I've been a long time fan of the H.A.M.B. and especially love the vintage pics of 60's and 70's modifieds. I grew up near Oswego Speedway and lived near Ed Bellinger's garage so I naturally became a big fan of Ed JR. As an adult I moved to Owego, NY and began spending time at Shangri La Speedway watching the mods. This was in the early nineties so the cookie cutter cars were already in vogue but I love history and have become endeared to the mods of old, when parts came from the salvage yard and the do it yourself approach Eddie B. always practiced was the only way to go. For the past five years I've been learning what went into those early (late 60's early 70's) mods and collecting the parts to build a true replica of one. It will not be an old coupe body on a Troyer frame. I have the '57 Chevy frame, '38 Pontiac Coupe, Chrysler torsion front ends (with spares), drum brake QC rear, M21 transmission and a lot of notes from Ric Mariscal at the Pronyne Museum in Warrick, RI and Dave Tourigny, builder and designer of the Woodchopper #15 cars that Fred Desarro and Bugs drove. Len Boehler's coupe is at Pronyne and I've crawled all over that car for my notes as well. I hope to learn from other knowledgeable folks on here who were there when the cars all looked different and were fast as hell. Brian J. Lavoie
