Hello everyone new to the board as of today,

I have a 1951 Chevy truck that has a 1979 firebird clip on the the front. The guy who welded the clip left some of the downward part of the clip so the front is really low but now my steering box is in the core support, any ideas perhaps a spacer under the front cab support but then the gap between the cab and bed wouldnt look right.

I know the clip is too wide for this frame but its what i have so i have to work with it. Progress is needed the woman is starting to nagg about the garage being to full of my stuff.

Im San Luis Obispo willing to drive to buy:
orignal seat or one that will work with the stock floor
    vent wing ***emblies
    widened rear fenders?
    head light buckets
    Dash chrome
    cross member for a 700r4
    door guts
    gl***

In need of a parts truck but have no storage area.

    Thanks alot Richard

Need pics to accuratly try to sort your issue out....

orignal seat or one that will work with the stock floor Just gave one away that was in awesome shape so I can't help ya however the pull aparts have lots of pickup deats that will be compatable.
vent wing ***emblies swap meets, However the repop companies have em
widened rear fenders? dont know anyone that makes em already widened...though I would do it myself anyway.
head light buckets swap meets, However the repop companies have em
Dash chrome swap meets, However the repop companies have em
cross member for a 700r4 easy fab job, see my build thread
door guts lotsa stuff in the junk yard that will work, if you gotta have the non modifyable stock stuff then swaps or again the repop places
gl*** cheap, make templates and go get em cut, should be one of the last things you do anyway

see this thread as well.....lotsa sources here to find parts/services

One way to resolve the core support /vrs the steering box deal is to notch out the latch panel and move the radiator forward an inch or two .I have seen it done many times on these 47-54 trucks and as a matter of fact my 50 is done that way ,so was the 49 i used to have ...

.We'd like to see some pics of what you got...
..I'll bet you can just notch out the front corner of your core support to make it work; the radiator bottom tank doesn't go all the way down in the core support. I've done bunches of these and that's always what I have to do on the core with a front steer subframe. You mite need narrowed control arms or negative offset front rims for fender clearance....here's a pic of the notched core, you can weld in a curved piece that curves up and around the steering box to replace any strength lost.
