wheres a good place to get vacume on my engine?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by tulfabrication, Jan 31, 2011.

  1. so i have an sbc 350 with an edelbrock intake and carb. i need engine va***e for my power brakes, va***e modulator on my th400, and va***e advance for my distributor.

my question is; does it matter where i get my va***e from? For instance should i come off one of the provisions on my carb baseplate, Or should i go off the opening i have on my intake behind my carb. Or should one go in one place and the other in another place or does it even matter? It seems like i remember a friend telling me theres a difference however i figured va***e is va***e as long as it's downstream of the throttle plate.

If possible could i maybe run a va***e tree like newer cars and hide all or it in my cab so theres only one line going to the engine? Any ideas would be great, you know if im asking questions about va***e lines then this pos is getting close to roadworthy:D.

oh yeah, and is it "va***e" or "vacuum"?

"Vacuum" and, yes anywhere under the throttle plates works for all things mentioned. Some will say hook the vac. advance to the timed port but I wouldn't.

Back of base plate for brake booster, front right for dist, center (larger) for pcv, towards drivers side on front for trans ^^odulator. Just like the Edelbrock owners ^^anual says.
    Instructons online too.

You can get all of this information and a lot more at the Edelbrock website.

I believe Edelbrock recommends the ported connection for dist. Correct for some late model emissions motors but bad for performance. With full time vacuum, you will have better idle quality, a big plus when using a choppy cam.

If C9 was still around, he'd be all over this thread.:(

Yep! I use manifold vacuum for hooking up my vac. advance... You get way better performance and mileage!! :)

  8. awesome guys thanks, so the vac advance (and pwr brakes) will go straight to the manifold while pretty much everything else should go to the provisions on the carb? Would it be could to re-circulate the crankcase ventilation or should i just do breathers...or does it matter.

sorry about not reffering to any owners manual, i dont think i've ever bought a brand new part from edelbrock in my life haha
