We have a real good looking 1947 Nash ,but the engine won't turn over, blew air in the spark plug holes and got out alot of aluminum crud. I'm looking for a Chevy 350 or SBF 302 swap info. Any body do one? Nash engine would be neat ,intake has a top cover that would be easy to add more carbs , and exhust would be easy to split as well. Will any other pistons work for a rebuild?

Why not try looking at a Jeep 4.0L or the 258cid six? I'm putting in the 4.0L in my 37 Lafayette with an overdrive auto from a Cherokee 2x. Looks right at home. Running the fuel injection but you could use a carb.

    My Dad built a 41 Amb***ador 4 door fastback in the late 70's/early 80's.
It was a 64,000 mile rust free, 1 owner car.
He put a 302/C-4 combo out of a 68 mustang in it. He also put a 9 inch Ford out of a 63 Galaxie on the stock Nash leaf springs in the rear. It all fit like a glove with minimal work. It won't win any drag races, but it was a great highway car!
It had a stock front suspension that he rebuilt with NOS stock components. He just cut the heck out of the coils to get it down in the weeds.
He sold it in the mid 80's and the current owner who's had it for about 6 years or so, just put a Mustang 2 style front under it. More for reliability than anything. Otherwise it's just like the old man built it 30 years ago. I guess he did it right

How about an AMC 401. Perfomance parts are available still. Dont know about cleances etc but would match the body.

we have 4 SBC engines in the shop not ***igned to projects yet and 5 SBF, all chevies are auto, fords, have auto, 4 and 5 speed, and a buick V6 auto and a couple of 460 Fords that are too big and heavy, the nash has an O/d stick trans and a ****er-dana type rear end, body has minimal cancer spots, someone stole the tail lites and hood ornament,

My brother had a 48 amb***ador that he drove in college that had a 350/350 combo with a rearend out of an 82 ford ltd. Rear end was about an inch wider than the original one and was still able to run the original wheels and caps. A lady ran a red light and he tboned her killing the front end. He bought a fatman stub to replace the front end and that is far as we got and that was seven or eight years ago. He is gonna put a 4.6L mark 8 lincoln engine in it when he puts it back together. That engine compartment is so big that the small block looked out of place.
