Well, in trying to stay with somewhat period correct, as well as old school on my '63 Biscayne project, I bought this Weiand Air Cleaner. Cleaned it up and put it on this morning (Will get a new filter tomorrow).....I like it a lot....and it also is small enough for me to see the vacuum guage I put on the intake behind the carb.... Here are a few pics... Cheers, Bob
could be worse, could be one of these "Single Backfire" units, usually seen with the element on fire.
Hey man, I guess there are all differnent levels of period correctness. If you dig it, that's all that matters. If you are trying to nail down a "time capsle" look for an early '60's street machine, I agree with some of the opinions offered here.
instead of just being a dick, here's a much more 'period' set-up. 327 valve covers... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=547281 louvered air cleaner, chevy and/or pontiac... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=548463 or... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=538913&highlight=louvered+air+cleaner ditch the flex hose and underhood gauges while you're at it, it'll look much better...
Ha...gotta love this place for straight out facts/opinons..... Good thing I said "Somewhat" period correct......(Honestly didn't realize they still made Weiands in the early 80's) Good observations on the gauges too....Maybe I was hoping someone from all those periods would recognize something on it and like it?? But I still like it!!!
I think you have a little of all the makers of the past and present market. The main thing is that you like it, after all it is your car. Enjoy it.
Hey, at least he isnt asking about a 91 Ranger. Yall are more harsh to this guy than that 1 post noob
As long as you like it keep it. What I had seen in an MAS/ Racing Unlimited flyer was dated 1984 with that Weiand SureFlo in there. I think the part number was #2002....
"Lots of Disco Sauce there" That is a great quote! SO descriptive! I put it right up there with the phrase Walkabillys!!
