IVE collected car magazines for years have all kinds from honk, hop up,rods&customs and hot rod as well as all the new titles. WHY do they have to call this a COLLECTORS EDITION to most of the people who buy the mag arnt they all collector editions.
Well, the reason I *collected* mine is Chet Herberts & my dads Fuel Dragster is in the lower right corner of page 71. I have several pics of that thing, but not this one.
I do like the article about the photo archives almost getting thrown out by the stupid corporate hacks that didn't know there ass from a hole in the ground. Thank god some one was thinking before it all got pitched..
Great issue! Does anyone have any info/pics of the channeled in progress coupe on the cover?? LOVE that car!
Dave Wallace is in control now and the magazine didn't miss a beat! One of the ONLY things I look forward to seeing now on the News Stand is Hot Rod Deluxe! Great Issue and an AMAZING Editorial on how the Print Magazine business is losing some of its best story tellers to budget cuts.
it is one of the few mags i archive."you can shut the gate on this one, maxie, it's the duck's guts!"
sumptin' tells me Janet don't work there! It's always a great read and photos, but you gotta wonder how long it's going to last. I mean most of the content is from when they could afford a staff photog and archived it all. Either they are going to run out of good stuff in 5-10 years, or the photogs are going to want a little cut (like the TV writers) and the costs are going to go up. Guess the model back then was pay the guy and get all the film and rights. I know that when they start doing Red Camaros and vans they are going to be talking to an empty room.
The Borders in River Park has a bunch if anyone in the Fresno area needs a copy. Still no sign of TRJ there though.
The caption on one of the photos says they have 8.5 MILLION images in the archives, so it's gonna be a while before they run out!
Really? You gotta gripe that they MIGHT run out of stuff in 5-10 years... Red Camaros and vans? I guess every silver lining has a cloud, doesn't it... The photogs on staff produced the stuff for the magazine company... they won't get a cut, any more than you'd get a future cut of products from your employer. Freelancers had future publication rights covered in their contracts. And yeah, Wallace is good for the magazine. -Brad
