This weekend was a good one for me something I planned went as expected. I seen a inner deck skin that Aussie Steve did the bead work with a air chisel. So with that insperation I came up with this idea to put a design in a piece of sheet metal. We cheated we used a laser to cut the pattern but it could be layed out and cut with a torch or plasma or using a dxf file you can have someone cut you a template. There is 3 templates that index they will determine depth of the stamping. One is the back plate plate two is the design next the sheet metal clamps between plate three and use all the clamps you can find. Heres the photos of my results with my new improved system haha ! Now heres the funny part after made the patterns and loaded the part these beads we done in less than 5 minutes no **** !!and the edge of the wheel wells were done on a oxygen bottle cap ith a rubber mallet I could not belive how well it worked. Tell me what you think P.S. bead tool was made out of a harbor freight air chisle bit chucked in a cordless drill and rounded on a belt sander

Grego I failed to mention the head of the chisel that I ground down was a hammer head and I ground it to the width of the template grooves and keep that chisel 90 degrees to the surface and keep moving up and down the pattern have fun I promise it works next is my hood beads !!

    Quality looking results!
What did you have the metal on to back it up ? I had thought of using a router bit to carve a piece of hardwood and chisel the groove in the metal on top of that.

Tom you could use hardwood but use a steel backer to keep that bit from traveling to far I did steel because I might use this design again it just worked very well and not much expense the depth is controled by the metal thickness that is between the top and bottom template there is more that It will be used for thanks for checking it out .

Slick, It looks like I'll be looking for some new air chisel bits at HF the next time I run down there.

I was thinking about how I was going to make some reinforcement panels for my truck's floorboard this morning and you just gave me a plan.
