I am looking for suggestions on what brake set up i can retro on to my stock 36 front end. I was told up to 48 would " bolt on" for hydr brakes ,the backing plates drums etc from cars and trucks. .Any ideas or suggestions would be help full.

    Thanks again

Yes, the hydraulic brakes from 1939 to 1948 will work. You will need to keep your drums and spindles matched to each other. In 1936 the "snout" on the drum was a little longer, and so was the spindle to match. From '37 on, the spindles were the same.

You will need the "piston ring" style adapter kit to do it, but it is pretty straightforward.

The '36 spindles have a square backing and need a spacer for '39-'48 backing plates. Also you'll need a good set of '37-'39 drums.

ditch the 36 spindles for anything else and you can pick and choose....1/2 ton drums are great "self energizing" i believe
