Hi,i am so ticked off that i don't want this to happen to anyone else.i own a 1959 cadillac.back in february of 2010,i needed to replace my transmission.after looking thru hemmings i spotted an ad for a rebuilt transmission for $1490.00 from classic caddies of ontario canada.i called the #705-385-8724 and a man named don horton answered the call.i told him what i needed and he said no problem he would take care of me.he did!he requested my credit card # and said that would get things rolling.he charged my account 1490.00.a couple of months passed and i called him an was wondering where my transmission was.he said no problem it's on ot's way do you need anything else?i said i needed a 1959 cadillac horn ring.he said no problem i'll put it on your credit card.another $450.after another month went by i called again "where's my transmission? Another 2 weeks went by and the transmission came.i delivered it to the repair shop the next day and a week later the shop called and told me i had a problem with the transmission ,it ticked and did not shift correctly and that i should have an expert transmission shop check it out.i did and the experts said after they tested and removed it from the car ,that whoever re-built this transmission must have been drunk and in order to fix it properly they would have to totally disassemble and re-build at an estimated cost of $1900.i said "no problem" i'll just call don at classic caddies and since classic caddies gave a 1-year warranty this problem should certainly be covered.i called don, told him the problem, sent him statements from both shops(the shop that initally installed the transmission and the expert transmission shop)and don said "no problem " he would send a newly re-built transmission to the expert shop (located in minnesota) and pick-up the faulty transmission at the same time.the transmission came,it was installed and ran. Right now that should be the end of this story,it's not.a month later i looked at my credit card statement and couldn't figure out why it was so high??????????? After careful review don had charged my account for another $1490.the same day i received my "horn ring" from don at classic caddies.it was all pitted and looked terrible.i called don and he said "that's to bad".i then told don at classic caddies that no one ever authorized him to charge for a second transmission and that he said he was sending a second transmission under the warranty for the bad transmission at no charge to me and how did he get my credit card information again??? Don said"i keep all that credit card information on file"..
Ok, so i've spent $1490 for a transmission with a i-year warranty.install cost of $500.00.another transmission with a charge of $1490 and another install and inspection charge of $800.total spent so far $4280.00.plus another $450.00 on a pitted out horn ring.

I have called the credit card company and have told them that fraud has been commited and that the vendor "classic caddies" is totally mis-representing everything and have had the charge of $1490 removed and re installed on my credit card 3 times.this guy is nothing but scum.the dirt of the earth is much cleaner then this guy will ever be.
In closing i am writing this so if anyone was close to buying anything from classic caddies in ontario canada, beware!because i feel he has cheated me ,lied to me and is totally a dis-honarable person and if he cheated me ,he will certainly cheat you also!

Sorry to hear about your troubles. But, the real reason I am writing......
You haven't told us anything about you, your car(s), your interests and so on.
Just this first thread wailing about an apparent rip off you suffered. Now, take a minute and think about walking into a strange shop. Guys sitting around shooting the bull. You don't know them. They don't know you. The first words out of your mouth are the same as you posted. I don't know about most shops, but in mine, just in case, I would put my hand on my pistol and tell you to get out...now!!
Do an intro. It might help you...us...everyone.
Oh, yeah, welcome to the H.A.M.B.!! (smiling)

Hey Kiwi, go easy on the guy. He is trying to warn everyone about a rip off artist. It is not like he was on here asking about r*t r*ds with no intro.

And I agree with ratmotor, I think that is the guy that is always rolling around the Barrie flea market in the golf cart with 59 caddy fins. I had heard he was a crook, that is probably why him & Haney get along so well.

I had heard that he died though.

  25. He said he owns a '59 Caddy... isn't that enough? I wouldn't be in the mood to tell my whole life's story after I got fucked for $2000+ by a douche like this Don guy.

Yes, for sure let Hemmings know. They have their own BBB system for flaky sellers. I sometimes call them first, before I buy. pigpen
