Hello, I am new here and have built many cars, in fact I build Limos for a living. Anyway I always loved the 48-50 Packards, love to see other Street Rod Packards of any year. I have looked around the forum and come up short. Heres mine to start

  8. Im a packard fan, and ive got a 29 limosene body. Even worked on it yesterday, but i think the term you need, is customs, or hot rods, not street rods. (we dont do sr here.)
Yours looks good, and im hoping some nice examples pop up here. Thanks for starting this thread.
There is a few Packard owners here.

My father's late cousin-in-law had a '38 Packard Darrin Sunset Strip. It was taken to Darrin's shop in 41 to have the new grill installed. He bought it in 1950 and owned it until his death last year. The cowl was 3/4" cast aluminum. Impressive in person!

Not to take hi-jack your thread, but there is a 50 packard for sale locally with a solid body that runs and drives for a pretty fair price. I was curious how reliable the straight 8 was and what parts availabilty is like for brakes, tune up parts, basic stuff like that? I think they look damn nice from the factory and with a mild lowering and decent paint it would be a cool cruiser...

The straight 8 is bullet proof (especially the 9 main bearing versions).

Kanter and Max Merrit Auto have just about any Packard part you could want for a '50. Fair warning though, Packard parts are expensive.

Here is one from Back to the 50's a few years ago. Gorgeous '49 convertible, but the owner (and I will never understand why people can justify ruining a car like this) pulled the straight 8 and replaced it with a SBC.
    Epic Fail.

    D'Agostino's "Gable" is breath-taking.

He currently has a '58 in the works.

This one sold at Barrett Jackson this year. The wife asked why I didn't buy her one of those...
