We're on our way of getting over an inch of ice. I'd rather have snow. most things are closed and they're telling people to stay off the roads.
    I hate winter.

We got about 1/2" of ice here on the SE side of Indy, and then about 1.5" of sleet. Now it's back to the freezing rain. Fucking joy.

We are getting our ass kicked pretty well. The wind is very rough, in a way it's a good thing as the snow will not overload my shop roof and I won't have to go up there and shovel it. We're getting some 60 mph gusts, you can only see about 300 feet down the street. The stores were all packed with the nuts buying can goods as if it was 2012, I saw one old guy pulling whole rows of peas and corn into his cart, I asked him hey aren't you gonna get sick of eating all that peas and corn, maybe you should partake of a few cans of beans and carrots for a bit of balance, I smiled at him like a friend. He told me to bugger off and rammed me with his cart. I hope he plugs his colon. The gas ran out at 11:30 this morning at a few stations, there were lines as if the aliens were coming, I kept looking for Will Smith in a flight suit. So for all of you who are all excited and god feared over this it works like this. Tomorrow after all the snow stops the 100 million of us start digging out our cars and restoring our civilization. Be sure to help your neighbors and check on any of your friends or neighbors that may need help and or shelter. Be sure to check on the elderly to make sure they are OK and in supply. Keep an eye on your old guy neighbors, shovel their walks for them and they may live to see the weekend, a snow like this is a killer for old guys. The best part of a snow like this is seeing people out and about the next day, we're like ants, in a couple days we will be back to normal. Stay safe.

Here in Mi, it seems like EVERYBODY was in the stores buying eggs, milk, & bread. WTF? Does everybody in this God-forsaken state want French Toast tomorrow?

Ditto on your idea to check on the old folks.

And I would like everybody out in PA to be on the lookout for that fat, furry, rat over in Punxsutawney.

IMHO, that fat little varmint would better serve mankind, not as a weather prognosticator, but as an entree with a zesty BBQ sauce & a twice baked potato.

  22. Well, it was a beautiful sunny day here on the West Coast of Canada, a little bit of frost overnight, but saw a few people on their motorcycles, while I was driving to work this afternoon. :D We've had 2 days of snow this year, which melted by the next morning.

  23. We got ice and several inches of sleet here in St Louis. The weather forcasters claimed we were going to get 12-18+ inches of snow, but it failed to happen here.....
The sky is no longer falling here. For the first time I heard the weatherman say he was sorry for causing such a panic. He said he was bracing us for the worst....

I'm about 25 miles South of you. We had 2 fatal accidents out here this morning because of black ice and blowing and drifiting snow and the main storm hadn't even hit yet. I live on US 67 and nothing is going by the house except snow and it's blowing by about 10 MPH over the 40 MPH speed limit. I can barely see the house across the street. I don't remember the big one of Jan. '79 being anything like this. I work 3rd on "The Island" and turned in a vacation day for tonight "just in case", glad I did.

  27. My wife and I are iced in. There is about 1" to 1-1/4" of ice on the road infront of the house. My driveway is sloped and all ice too.

My wife and I have bacon, eggs and steaks to last us till Saturday. If it goes past that...we are eatting the cats.

  28. MMMMM French toast...:p
