just goofing off on the hamb today and clicked one of the noobies profile's and relized he was member number 139,927. that just kinda blew me away i cant believe the site has got that big. i relize alot of members dont post, but still thats truely amazing....
Yeah, I signed up in Sept. '08 (pretty sure) and membership has really boomed. I lurked here for several months just checkin it out. I appreciate all the good info here. The humor is good, too.
thats what i was thinking to, i just read for probably 6 monthes before i signed up. thats was in 04 and it was a little meaner back then ill never forget my first time i saw the hamb , the thread ***le was Ebay Abortion...... and of course the abortion was one of my cars, lol. you gotta learn style somehow. haha
i read for a few months b4 i finally decided to sign up too. and do a lot more reading then posting. my mouse-over says im member #64,611 im an "08" and still a noob =(
I wouldn't sign in as often as I do but that is the only way I can get to see the new pictures that are posted.
Ok so I signed up in 2009 after lurking for a time And I'm around most days either reading, laughing or trying to type something So does that make me one of the active 20,000?? rather than just one of 140,000 odd Now that makes me feel better!!! OK Gotta get off here and back to work No rest for the wicked and I must be bad Even my daughters say I got to live to 150 to get everything done in my life time
the HAMB just needs a good old fashioned overhaul. I first signed on in '01, and was moderately active for about a year, until my computer crashed. I went without the HAMB, and without a computer, until '03. When I got back on I found no trace of my old account!! that would realign our numbers a bit eh?
Bad Penny is officially #140000. Is it an omen? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/member.php?u=140000
The interesting part is that there are thousands of people with zero posts who have contributed just as much information as some members with thousands of posts. Makes me chuckle everytime I think about it.
I lurked for ten minutes, then joined in 09. I knew this was what i wanted from my hot rod sickness. The first thread i started got canned due to being off topic, (hadnt read enough first) and ive put my 2 cents in where ever i felt i wanted to. I feel this is one of the best hot rod sites on the planet, and it looks like others feel the same way.
I don't care how many active members there are, just as long's they keep being good stewards to the hotrodding community. I just became a Alliance member today, I love this place too much to not be apart of it now. About two years ago I was searching for some cool hotrod pictures online and came across the "Jalopyjournal" thing...WTF is that? Then hmmm "Ohh **** this is cool!!!" Read it everyday at work for about a year untill i got my own project. Now ill post if i feel im qualified, but mind you im 23, still learning alot and damned if i dont steal alot of info & inspiration from here!! So 150,000? cool. I suppose someone will be mad that its not their "little secret" anymore.
This was a topic I played around with a while back, It was cold and I was bored. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=434055
I to lurked for a few months before signing up, lots of good people here and info on anything you ask.
the HAMB seems to have taken on a life of its own lately... Geez I miss the 'Germ", come back , all is forgiven. LOL!!! (dadseh..member # 275)
I do a lot of reading on here to gather information before I start my build. All of the knowledge on this site is sometimes overwhelming so I only post when I feel I can contribute.
