Amazing effort to find this photo. Thank you.
This is a typical sock hop type dance from the late '50's. Note all the kids have Coke bottles in what appears to be the 8 oz. size. Some kids couldn't afford one so they just sat there or other kids gave them a swig.

    I found this
Ed "Edith" L LaFriniere refused to remove his wig after police arrested him on October 9, 1967 for disturbing the peace.

A beautiful, free-thinker, dead at age 26. Though Sharon Tate
had talent that even proven male and female actors in Hollywood
attested to (David Niven and Patty Duke a**** many others), her
exceptional looks and shy demeanor actually held back her career
    in entertainment.

Though she was due to deliver a son in two weeks, she and the
unborn infant were extinguished by 17 knife wounds in August 1969.
The murder flabbergasted Hollywood -- and the whole U.S. -- for
a month, until the perpetrator was nailed and jailed -- permanently.
This fine publicity photo is thanks to El Conde Estruch
(cpndeeestruch.blogspot.com). Thanks for the photo and for the
    memory of Sharon.

There's a blast from the past... Re-cap tires.

Say, why dont they recap tires anymore?

They do for big rigs all the time.
Cars are a different story, new tires are better and about the same price,
cannot recap a tire much cheaper than new,
    ..
I used to buy recaps on an old nova, but the summers down in Riverside Ca use
to cause them to come off. Once or twice is not a coincidence, but it became a
regular occurrence, so i bought new, first polyester belted bias ply, then radials,
I remember when I first put a pair of radials on it, wow, it was like I had power steering.

I don't know if they still do it, but they used to "re-groove" big rig tires and sometimes car tires. They just literally cut new tread into what was left of the tire casing. I am not sure of it was legal then, but surely it isn't now at least in the US?

  29. I'll stick my neck out a little and say that regrooving is/was legal on tires that are designed to be regrooved. That probably did not include any p***enger car tires though. On the big rigs they can mold on a lot of rubber but the initial grooving can only be just so deep or the tread would squirm. A way to determine how much meat was left to regroove would probably be provided by a series of little holes placed around the tire cir***ference that could be checked with a dipstick like gauge. The grooving iron is equipped with a shoe that can be adjusted to cut to a certain depth.
