my dad has a 38 chevy 4 door touring sedan that has been sitting around for quite a few years. I have been trying to hype him up to get it rolling once again. how about a little inspiration: let me see your 38 pics so I can show him some done up.
I love the color of your coupe. were thoes lights on top of the front fenders a factory option? I don't recall ever seeing them before. That looks like a fun car to drive. Do you have a straight 6 in it?
Lotsa love for the '38 Chevys. IMO, the '37/'38 Chevy coupes make some of the best g***ers, and they're cool stock too. My first car was a '38 Chevy 4-door when I was 16 in 1973. Sorry...no pics right now. I think the late '30s cars have the best of all worlds in many ways...especially the GMs...they are the first cars with a full steel turret, (roof) and have a tighter and stronger construction than previous cars, yet retain the pre-war styling with separate headlights, tall narrow grill, exposed running-boards, etc. I bought an original '37 Chevy coupe about 3 years ago, that had sat in a barn since '63. I replaced the 216 with a 235, and almost had it ready for driving, but unfortunately had to sell it recently due to $ problems. Hated to sell it, but it kept us here on the farm. Hope to maybe get another sometime. Maybe your father hesitates to put work, time, and $ into the '38 because it's a 4-door? But as the years roll by, even the 4-doors are looking cool. Fun to take friends in too. Here's a pic of the '37 I sold. Good luck to you and your dad. P.S. - Maaaaan, wawuzit...your coupe looks awesome!
Here's a link to my buddy's '38 coupe on Rik's website. http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11_.../37-38_chevy_custom_cars/robert-marquez-1938/
Nice, you guys got some sweet 38's. thanks for the pics. Rickybop: sorry you had to let her go, I hope another makes it way to your farm. I agree with your comments about the styling & fit. It will be sweet once it gets under way. 4 doors are cool no matter who says otherwise. rg1954<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_5792207", true); </SCRIPT> : good link thanks man Mikey's Pinstriping<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_5790089", true); </SCRIPT> : nice, I bet thats fun to drive! ATub: Looks good I like the size of the wheels alot. I would have thought that flat black would look sharp, but you showed me wrong. I'm going to save that pic to show my old man; hope you don't mind.
Here's where my coupe is at. The 4 link quickchange is in the rear, and the 4 link drop axle in the front.

Wow, great thread, lov em'. I need to get some pics of my 37 sedan and 38 coupe so I can contribute to the cause. There is a social group on here for these cars, lets get talking! The coupes make some of the coolest g***ers as was said. I like em better than the Willy's as I am Bowtie all the way from 37 to 67.
