When I was about 5 years old my dads best friend would keep his duece coupe with us so his wife wouldnt find out about it . So it was not uncommon for us to take it for a spin and to this day I still have never ridden in such a bitchen car well he sold the car to another friend of ours for i believe 10,ooo dollars in about 1980 where that guy traded our longtime family friend jack underwood for a duece roadster We had the chance to buy it once again for i think 30,ooo and couldnt swing it so the coupe went to Jim Busby and since has traded hand to the current owner Richard Munz. Well walking th GNR this past weekend there she sat just as I remembered looking good as ever of course the coupe is famous but being the youngster i was had no idea of its history and last time i saw it was for sale the price was 150,000 pretty good interest on the original 10,ooo well i had these pics i thought id share from the day of the trade had to share my memories And i messed up my good full shot of the car from gnr but theres plenty on the various other show threads
I love it!; Hid the Hot Rod at a friends house so the Wife wouldn't find out about "the other Woman".
So that's what the Busby coupe looked like before Jim did the rebuild that caused so much stir on here awhile back. Too rich for my blood but if I had the $$$'s I don't think I'd hesitate putting the title in my name and at that price i'm sure it would be a solid investment. Well, maybe "investment" is the wrong word but I can't imagine loosing money even if you had to weather a couple of economic downturns. Frank
I don't think that's the busby coupe with the caddy mill.I believe that's Dick Martin's 50's built survivor with olds power.Street Rodder did a feature on it in the mid seventies. It was an incredibly original time piece even then.
