In the Kustoms Illustrated issue #15.On the Kopper Kart build the guys use Half Oval stock to duplicate the Barris sign side panel. Does anyone know were I can locate this material? Frank
you mean the steel stuff used on handrails, i have some 1-1/2" that could work, you can by it at any steel supply place, it is considered decorative steel.
Is that what it is? Dang,Thats some heavy stuff.I was looking for something close to 1". I want to make belt trim moulding for my 51 Chevy.I don't have the original trim.I want no chrome trim on the car but i want have that belt trim look. Any suggestions? Frank
It is a pretty common architectural metal stock. Any shop that sells fence and railing stuff should have it. All of my suppliers carry it in: 5/8" x 3/16" 3/4" x 3/16" 1" x 1/4" 1-1/4" x 5/16" 1-1/2" x 5/16" 1-1/2" x 3/8" 1-3/4" x 7/16" 2" x 1/2"
I sent you a pm. I cannot find a supplier of 5/8" x 3/16" steel half oval. Any help much appreciated. I only need 3 feet of stock. Can you help?
http://www.restorationstuff.com/Products/products.html They were an alliance vendor, not sure if they still are or not. Have listings for several smaller sized of half oval trim...
Thanks for the response. I am familiar with them and have had their catalogue for years (even before they were sold and moved the business). Unfortunately they do not have the 5/8" 1/2 oval in steel. I have plenty in br*** but I need steel. It it the edging around the hood and acts to stiffen the hood.. The steel broke due to hood flexing, the br*** would not do nearly as well. It is on a 100 year old car.
I will check with my suppliers on Monday and see what they have in drop, and what the price of a whole stick is.
