I'm like holy ****... with water decals and all...

    same with the flywheel.

Was there a post about this speed shop some time back??? Talked to Bleed and he thought it might have been closed down fully stocked? RUMOR?

I think its absolutely BAD *** that this stuff is so clean...

I think his family owned this shop back in the day. Nice guy. A step back in time. I think they do a lot of roundy round racing business.

Nice guy! - I got an original Hurst T-handle shifter still in the original packaging at the HAMB drags from him..... I may never open it.... it's great wall art :D

  13. Sam's a kick-**** guy. I've got a few NOS parts that came from him a few years back and he's hangin' on to some stuff for me now.....wish he'd show up on here a bit more often though. Top fella.

The shop is open every weekday and on sat when not at the races. The place has never closed. The R@C speed shop has been in business and incorp since 1946. Yes 2 years longer than speedy bill. I have had the pleasure of Being a friend and customer of this business for over 47 years. all the stuff is new. while at the HAMB drags I opened a box of valve covers with a 1956 news paper in them. I will get him to post as he has been off for a while. If ever in the area give him a call and say hamb and he will give you the tour. allot several hours, tel no is 205 328 5141..

I tell ya Bobby we gotta do the tour this summer! It's nice to live so close to a real legendary place. And Sam(Pinstriper) is just such a nice guy also. Incredible stuff, in all original packaging. Yes, we do have to go there:D Sparkticus

  16. Sam is one of the straightest shooters the HAMB has to offer. Good guy, wealth of knowledge and as everyone has posted, cool parts. He helped me with the tech info on my Spaulding dizzy about 4 years ago!

He's a killer pinstriper too... pinstriped my truck and my toolbox... I love them both!

He's the greatest! Rocco and Cheaters gets the Gracie Seal of Approval, big time!

  19. Morning folks, as a lot of you know I have a ton of irons in the fire and just don't have a lot of time to be online. Sorry, wish I could, as I kinda miss my "extended family" :) I am getting a lot better from my bout with a bacterial infection and I really appreciate the folks that have kept in touch. K9 has kept a few of you all informed as to my progress and I appreciate him for doing so. I couldn't have asked for a better friend. Gracie...I'm gonna kick your **** if you don't call next time you are in town...:)

Wow, I really feel great this morning after reading this thread...surely SOMEONE doesn't like me...LOL.

Okay....to set the record straight, NO I am NOT cartoonist33 on Ebay. I haven't had an Ebay account for a few years. Not that I have a gripe or disdain for the venue, I just flat don't have time. The stuff that Cartoonist33 is selling has come from the dusty shelves of Rocco & Cheater's. I'm sure some of you have met him, and I'll not do his intro. I've prodded him to join the HAMB and as sure as of today he has.

Tuck, If you are interested, I'll send some of the propaganda that has been written in the years past regarding Rocco & Cheater's. I think the last that was sent went to Marq across the pond. It may take me a few days to have it all rounded up but I'll do it if you are really interested. It is still open during the week and we follow the oval track races over the weekends...you are all welcome to drop in anytime you are in the Birmingham area.

Okay fine!!! You guys caught me, I am Cartoonist33 here. I have met many of you though I'm sure not very many of you remember me. (I'm not one who talks alot). I was at the Oklahoma pinheads / letterheads meet a few years ago when I met Unkl Ian, and at the HAMB drags...."that kid" on the Schwinn Stingray.

Name's Anthony Sanfilippo (Sam's son) I'm the 15 year old, third generation of Rocco & Cheater's Speed Shop Inc. and just to let you guys know, for as long as I shall live the shop will NOT close. I'm not like most kids my age I don't want a car with a spoiler I want an oldie-but-a-goodie car. I have one vintage car that was given to me at birth but no HAMBer would like it. Dad bought me a basket case 73 VW...I'm in the process of rebuilding / restoring it. For those of you who may want to know my car wish list would be: a '32 Ford, '49 chopped Mercury, '59 Cadillac Eldorado, or an old T-Bucket. lol I'm glad to see that you guys (and gals) think so highly of the shop and of Dad. I know that I will have a great time here on the HAMB.

  22. Is there a phone number we can call you at the shop?

I'd like to buy two of those aircraft/race car style steering wheels you had at the Drags for sale... one for a friend, and one for me...

Incedentally, he made one very similar as a kid, in shop cl***... and still has it. I just thought it was a trip that he had made something that was manufactured by someone else... without knowing.

I also think it is totally cool that Sam is helping his kid work his way to college! That's a proud and smart poppa!

    Sam.

I've never met Sam Sanfillipo but I've dealt with him via the HAMB, he's one of the nicest, most honest men ever.
I bought the NOS chrome slots for my '34 Ford from him. When they arrived there was a bunch of decals, postcards and a history on the R & C in the box.

    God bless these guys.

I had the very good pleasure of meeting Sam, Anthony, and Bobby(K-9Racer) at my place last August after the Burger and Fry party.

Along with Gus and Denise, we sat in the garage until about 1:00 am or so visiting.

Very nice people, welcome at our place anytime.

Judy and I are having a difficult time waiting for the next H.A.M.B. drags
