Decided to jump in after a lot of lurking. I may get hammered here but I'm gonna give it a try. I do not own a traditional hot rod but am making plans by the minute to get set up for one. Currently my hobby time, money, and efforts are directed to crew chiefing my 16 yo daughters 2007 Racer Pops Bullet Junior Dragster. Hopefully the paint job will be worthy to prove my passion for traditional rods. She actually designed it though with a little persuasion. We have been racing for three years and this past season she made it to the top as the 2010 Northeast Dragway Junior Dragster Points Champion. I posted some pics of her at our track and her Iron Man win at MIR. We have at least one more year racing the Jr before she will be off to Johnson and Wales. Then it will be time for me to get my hot rod!!!!!! Preferably a 56 or 57 Chevy Pick Up. This looks like an awsome web site with lots of good people and information. I am definately looking forward to hanging out and learning more. Thanks
Way to be a great dad quick60! Awesome. Welcome to the H.A.M.B. from Nor Cal and the Cam-Snappers Hot Rod Club! Check out the New club group! Love to have ya! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/g...hp?groupid=619
Thanks for the warm welcome!!! We had been taking the kids to the races since they were ten. She saw the juniors and asked if she could try it. I could not come up with the money at the time. Saved up a little and at 13 she made her first pass down the track. She was grinning from ear to ear coming down the return road. I highly reccomend Jr Dragsters to anyone with kids or grandkids. They learn alot about sportsmanship, setting goals, math, physics, basic mechanical skills, etc. Hands down the best move I ever made.
Welcome! Glad you made the jump from lurker to member. Where are you in the Old Dominion? I grew up in Richmond... so I know the state pretty well!
I reside in Chesapeake grew up in Va Beach. Had to get away from all the traffic and congestion. I must say however the beach planning commission has done an excellent job of building their city in the last 20 years. Wouldnt mind moving back.
Welcome from Missouri and Thanks for being a great dad and keeping the automotive fire burning in your daughter. Our kids are whats gonna keep this hobby alive when we are gone.
Amen to that. I used to live in Hampton Roads, and the traffic was miserable. Going through the HRBT was always a gamble. Then i moved to Northern Va and now i wish for the days of Hampton Roads. Haha
