http://cokertire.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=17545&cat=&page=1 I'm looking at running these on the front of the coupe, and I was just wondering if any of you have any experience with them. Does EVERYTHING from Coker ****, or jsut the WWW's? Are these "for display" only, or are they runners? Will they survive 130-ish 1/4 mile blasts AND regular street duty? Thanks! Steve
Well, BEFORE porting the intake, the motor I have was hitting 125 in the 1/4, in a 3100 lb car. I figure that in a 2000 lb coupe, it's entirely possible!
I've had some problems with Coker in the past, but I think you guys really give them a bad rap. Sure, their WWW radials have been persistently trouble, but they also sell Goodrich WWW radials, which seem to be fine, as well as a whole slew of bias ply tires, including WWW's. Most are VERY well made, from the original molds, even! They make the tires that Lucas, and Universal tire sell. I would guess that being made in original molds, with todays's advances in chemistry, the tires should be better than they were "in the day". Their Pro Trac's should be at least as good as the originals were. And they were pretty good, I had them on my old 57 Chevy convertible hot rod, and they handled as well as a thin tire could on the street.
I would say for the way you will punish this car that I wouldnt trust them. I dont see that they are speed rated at all? Also, I doubt your coupe will be as light as 2000 pounds. 2500+, easy. On another note, got your fax order here, will let you know soon. T
What about the WWW radials? Are they ok? I was half-way thinking about running a set of them on one of my cars, and need to know before I spend those big bucks. Anybody know anything about the WWW Radials from Coker? Any other sources?
What? You guys don't wear rubber pants ALL the time? What would you suggest for a semi-"period correct" looking wheel around a 5.60-15 Trent? Or should I just say F the DOT and throw a set of Moroso front runners on it? I'm running Radir cheaters on the back, which I don't think are really DOT anyway... It was a complete guess as to the weight too, Trent, but it should be quite a bit lighter than my chevy II (it has a full frame, 10 pt cage, braced 9" rear, all gl*** windows, etc...)
Like I am one to ask for tire advice..................HURSTS in the rear and cycle tires in front on mine!
Oh jeez... that helps! "Don't run what you had planned, but I can offer NO advice on what would work better!" Lemme know on the wheels... Thanks!
I have them on the front of my 69 z/28. It has a blown 502 in it. They handle great, seem to hold up under the big rat!! They also look great. I also have the Pro Track rears 27560b-15. Had it at World of Wheels in Balt and DC. People liked the retro muscle car look!
