The truck looked great in person. I was a bit bummed that it was displayed in such a confined place as to require the doors to be closed. I'd been bragging about how great the
wood grain was but didn't get the opportunity to see nor share it. I'm very happy for the winners and the award couldn't be more deserved. Congrats!

Thanks guys for the comments and interest. Wayne's a longtime friend and the owners are very cool. It was my pleasure to be involved with this build .

 

Well guys all the fan fair is over, the owners were very surprised and i think they're still on cloud 9. Many of you ask to see some build pictures so i'm going to try and post some. I'll just try and pick a few from each phase of the build and some i think you might like to see as i've got almost 1000 pictures. Thanks for the nice words you've said about the suburban. I've let the owners read most of them and they said to thank you guys too... enjoy..

The first ones are when i first picked it up about 4 years ago, rats had been living in it for year and had rat crap almost 2" thick in spots and had to pressure wash it out to clean it up.

 

Here the frame is sand blasted and filling a lot of holes in the frame. Set up the front end and the 9" ford rear end..

 

Getting the motor and trans set up along with the front sheet metal.. first look at what it might look like.

 

Hooking up the steering column and gas tank, oil cooler..

 

Filling in some holes in the dash and getting the body off to the sand blaster,, and finding some rust surprise's...

 

Getting some rust repair...

 

Replacing the floors....

 

Building the middle seat out of a truck seat frame, and getting the floor completed..

Thanks, yes we kept the wood floor but had to replace about a foot of it at the rear. i'll post some pictures of what we did.. the whole inside got sprayed with sound deadener..

 

Replacing some rotted out wood in the floor, and fixing some rust in the drivers' seat riser.

 

I don't know how long it's going to take to post the build here, i keep getting a note that tells me i'm missing a security token about every other time i post pictues... not sure what's going on but i've let someone know, maybe they can help..

 

Great Build and quite a surprise to the owners... That is a Good Deed!

 

I like that interior. Any more picts of it, like how you finished out the rear area interior and what you made the door panels out of?

closing up some door gags and making the doors line up... lot cutting and welding

 

New gas door and closing the gap between fender and hood..

 

Putting radio and air ride controls under driver's seat.. stock gas filler had to go...

 

Really nice job. That things just looks incredible and I love the stance. Such an exercise in patience getting all those gaps perfect. It sure paid off. Great work. And what a cool idea to surprise them.

 

Hooking up a/c lines

 

Installing exhaust and breaking it down for power coating the frame etc...
