What's a mallory dual point distributor worth?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by patchen1, Jan 31, 2011.

  1. I have a Mallory Dual Point Distributor for a Ford Flathead 226, 6 Cylinder. Model ZC-240A, it has never been run and the box is in ok condition, has a couple of tears but everything is there. I was wondering what kind of price this distributor is worth?

    Thank you

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but not much. Most of the Mallory dual points are good for nothing but cores. Usually need new point, condensor, cap and rotor right out of the box. Ive tried 2 on a flathead and they are trash. They sell for 200-300 new but usually get sold for about 100 used and thats if youre good, haha. good luck with the sale. Youre going to want to contact GMC Bubba for the dizzy on yours

  6. I got 300 for an LY with the trash can condensor,a crab cap and a working tach drive. I didn't cheat the guy it was a good dizzy and he wanted to run a true period correct dizzy on his hot rod.

I wouldn't bother putting one on a flat six, so unless you find someone that is building a period rod and needs one to make it right it just isn't going to be worth much I wouldn't think. A flat 6 unless its built to the hilt shouldn't need dual points they just don't turn that many revs. I would think if you buikt on far enough to warrent dual points you would want a mag. If it is the only dizzy you got and it is what you need to get on the road run it.

I don't care for the new billet ones either. You have to do some tricks to get them to get them to hold an adjustment.

And contrary to popular belief you can still by blue streak platinum points. They are still good quality and don't break the bank.

  7. I sold a Mallory Dual Point for a Mopar Flathead 6. It was NOS. I got $200. That was before the economy took a crap

  8. There ya go. Sometimes if I'm selling something I price it high. If the fella doesn't have enough I ask how much ya got? If he has enough for me not to die on the deal its his.

you can't sell anything for more than the buyer has.

oddball stuff is worth more but I doubt there would be a big following for that one! Might be waiting a bit! But then again who am i to talk i've payed silly amounts just cause the box was nice with no use for the parts inside!
