Howza All- I recently came in possession of an old amu*****t park ride car. It is fibreglas and has a wooden base. I remember at Lakeside Amu*****t park and the old Elitch gardens that in the kiddie ride area there were Kidillacs and Kurtis Kraft style midgets that the little ones would ride in. I believe to this day even at the modern Elitch's you can still see the old Kidillac ride for the little ones. This on I have looks to be a combination of Thunderbird, Karmaan Ghia and Aston Martin piled into one design. Odd, but kinda neat.
That's cool! They found some neat ones on American Pickers a while back. Here's one I saw....an old bumper car.
that car would make a neat go-kart to cruise around swap meets or car shows. Build a trailer to car all your finds!
he's my 750 cc street legal ,I put over 1000 mile on it last summer . Its so much fun on the back roads..
Heya Fantm58, I did too!!! Remember the Corvette Stingrays or the Harley Davidson cycles that were part of Kiddie land at Elitch's?
I'm ashamed to say it has been a few summers since me and the family have been to Lakeside. I will only go to Lakeside. Since Elitch's moved out of North Denver down to the Platte River Valley, I have no desire to go there. The atmosphere at Lakeside is truly magical! Here's a few pictures I took back in '07 of my homeboy Tony's little guy Santiago riding the "Midge-O-Racer" ride in Kiddieland. I have no idea how old this ride is, but I'd guess 1930s. I've also included a few pictures of the grounds. If any of you HAMBers are ever in Denver in the summer and want to visit a REAL place of nostalgia, you have to spend a day at Lakeside. When they open on Memorial Day, it will be the beginning of their 103rd season! Man, with all this snow on the ground today, I can't wait for summertime so I can go for a ride on the Cyclone and the Wild Chipmunk! E
Iv'e always wanted to find one of Disneyland's original "Autopia" cars. Has anyone ever seen one for sale ?
My brother said he saw one (body only) for sale at a Las Vegas antique store in the 90's. High-Dollar, though!
thats exactly what I was thinking. Quads, scooters, heck the people on bicycles are bad enough! walk lazy ***! Unless you are disabled and require a wheel chair or Hoveround, everything with wheels should be banned from the vendor isles.
Here's one converted to street legal. 750 honda cycle motor you have to be nuts to drive that on the road with the short wheel base and ride height!
<!-- InstanceEndEditable --><!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="Mainbody" -->The Rocket Car, was created from an authentic space rocket swinging ride, salvaged from the old "Euclid Beach Amu*****t Park" that existed in the Cleveland area until about 1969. Ron Heitman took a dream and did what he likes best, turned it into a car!! A 1973 Oldsmobile Toronado drive train was used to transform The Rocket Car into a legal street vehicle. The original rocket frame was mated to the Toronado sub-frame. The engine is a modified 455 cu.in. Olds with an automatic front wheel drive transaxle. This conversion gives The Rocket Car disc brakes, power steering and a torsion bar suspension with Carria coil over-shocks. The steering is coupled together using gears and chain from some heavy equipment. The rear axle is a solid tube axle with coil springs and airbags from the rear of the Toronado. The Rocket Car is 28 feet long nose to tail, and covered entirely with polished stainless steel panels. Along with the driver it will seat 10 adults or 15 kids very comfortably. All of the seats are upholstered in heavy red naughahide with seatbelts and automatic lock bars. To make life even better, Ron found another one of the old Euclid Beach rockets and created a second Rocket Car! The two are almost indistinguishable going down the road. It has been inspected by the Ohio State Police and is registered and licensed in Ohio as a legal street vehicle. It is highly maneuverable and very smooth riding. It can do 98 MPH in a standing quarter mile in 17.58 seconds and has a confirmed top speed of 136 MPH! The Rocket Car is covered with a one million dollar insurance policy and the p***engers are also insured. The Rocket Cars have been featured in the New York Macy's Thanksgiving Parade for 10 years. It is also seen very often in various Ohio parades and events. It has been used by Goodyear at the Indy 500 Race, Shopping Center openings, Weddings, parties, movies and gatherings were people needed some form of entertainment or transportation. Here's a little tease. This "trailer"(1953 Lusse Autoskooter) will be towed around behind a Topolino coupe owned by my buddy, Wayne Dobos. The little Fiat should have no problem pulling it with her Caddy big-block. Both are "in progress". I'm sure Wayne will keep us posted.
There are several of the bumper cars, made street legal ,here in cal, I think there was an article about them here on the hamb.
