You guys put it better than I could. It's totally outrageous and if you built it today I'd probably say what were you thinking?!? but that'd show my own stupidity because the styling is absolutely period correct and hats off to the guys that had the vision and dedication to build it, and to keep it for all these years.

If it were mine, I'd restore it and keep it the way it is. It seems like such a shame to modernize it unless it's to return it to original design.

I think it's way cool, too. Hope you find the story on it.

Just sux that a guy asks for help on history, and someone has to pipe off. This is how threads get closed.

As stated, looking for history not opinions.

Well Steve, It's certainly different! Actualy, the more I look at it, the more I like it!

With those tail lights, I think a dark color would look good- it might 'tone down' the lights a little.

Good luck- I'll follow this one.

P.S. It would sure be interesting to see what the naysayers are building- my guess is very little!:D

I showed this to a older friend he said it looks to him like a car cushenberry did in 58.
but is not sure what hit him was the use of the trunk lid its allmost the same as the el matador. as is the headlite use. look for an oldtimer from the san Jose area and Bay area.

Anything is possible at this point?? Luke of Kustoms Illustrated fame sent me a pic a couple of years ago of a very similar car...I think it was a late 40's Buick rag-top same vette lights ,and edsel front end stuff ...I will see if I can find the scans he sent me and add them to the thread, it was an article from one of the old magazines

Haha kind of a difficult car to tone down :p If I find any history on it that may determine the final color choice more than my own wishes...but those "new" burnt orange type colors that are showing up on some late model have really caught my eye...either one is a long way off though , I hope to get started on it next winter.

Just got off the phone with the former owner...not alot of info he only owned it for a short while before needing cash and selling it, he got it in Terrace British Columbia , figures he sold it around 34 yrs ago he never even had it on the road. But he said he bought it from a friend of his brothers, so I e-mailed him some pics of it and he will get in contact with his brother and see what he knows. Not as much as I was hoping for but hey after almost 10 yrs of absolutely nothing its a great start ! The way its starting to look I think I may have the record for longest ownership of it !

That project car has more miles on it than most rods I know. B.C. to ONTARIO bouncing around Ont. Then out to Alberta then to Nova Scotia. If its from B.C. you have a true Coast to COAST Kustom. Steve you should post it on Canadian Rodder lots of B.C. guys on there and lots of B.C. history as well.

    Love following the treasure hunt.

I say, "Have Fun" with it no matter what anyone says.
Maybe if I had owned as many nice customs like the naysayers I would be more critical.

I found the pic of the Buick rag-top that Luke sent me the front end and the tailight set up are pretty much the same, kinda makes me wonder if the cars are related some how !

I am pretty sure Wayne Copeland from Ontario took it on trade from Don Sparks at one point for the 55 Ford Poison kandy!
