I haven't seen it yet but these are the ****py pics the seller sent. '26 T coupe body. He says it's very rough. He says it has doors but they're unuseable. Same with the decklid. Car is sitting in storage. I see a couple of bulletholes and looks like the lower portion is rotted. So it's basically a coupe body, sans doors and decklid, that needs patch panels. Comes with a sandblasted frame too. It's local and he wants $400. I was thinking of buying it and trying my hand at chopping the top. Then I'd go from there. What'dya guys think? Is it worth it?

Well chopping it will be no biggie, finding doors and a decklid will! I save a few more $'s and get something a little better and more complete and it will make a better car in the end! Also T ch***is are only worth s****ping.

I've seen worse for more. Make sure to take the doors and deck lid. You be the judge if they can be repaired or not. They are very difficult to find. And yeah, the frame is junk.

Sounds like a steal to me, if the doors are in similar shape then I would ***ume they are fixable. Most people around here don't know what a welder is so if they see a rust hole then the whole car is junk.

  5. Make him a offer for less, but since your in Cali., the cowl alone might be worth that much in your area. I too would want to have the last say if the doors can or cant be used. Even the deck lid, can be used if you have the skills. The frame, one mans junk is another mans treasure. There are still people restoring those T's, and they will pay for a nice piece that's already blasted. Dont junk it. You might have to sit on it a few weeks till it sells, worst case scenario. Before you buzz cut the lid, do a search, there are a few very cool T's out there with a full lid, you might wanna leave it. Good luck with your decision.

The doors can be reskinned, lots of guys on this board have done it. The decklid can be reskinned, and the inner frame of the decklid can be fabbed from angle or retangular tubing also. Most of it will be your willingness to work on it.

$400 isn't bad. It just depends if you have $2000 to spend or $450 to spend...

  8. Doors for a T coupe will cost you more than the asking price of the body. The patch panels are pretty cheap and a repop decklid or at least the skin is available.

if the innerstructure of the doors is savable you can skin the doors. So if there is any door at all you may be OK.

I guess that doesn't answer your question but it gives you something to think about.

I have to go along with what P'nB said along with the question of do you want to be a T coupe or is this just the only body you can find that is affordable?

Overall I think you can build a pretty nice and inexpensive little hot rod with it as a starting point but I'd be searching the T body part suppliers online catalogs and getting an idea of what it will cost for body tin for it before proceeding.

http://www.fordor.com/category.cfm?cat=1926 1927 Ford Model T Coupe Parts&dept=0927modelt Will give you an idea of what it will cost to put it in shape.

That pretty much says it all! Funds are very tight and with the roadster, I've got enough to deal with. I think I'll just concentrate on my current project. Thanks for all the replies and if anyone is interested...........here it is.................

if the doors plus the deck lid are salvageable 400 sounds like a good deal to me.

A 26-27 t is metal framed, has some wood but it is not wood framed. I see a door in the last pic inside the car ans it appers to be not that bad. Go for it.
