DAMN... those are all sweet I wouldn't mind a "unique" one... I know there are several folks in front of me but I would like to have 2 so PM me when we can do business. thanx RockyJr
Hey Charlie, did you decide how much you needed to get for these? Both the big (almost life size) and smaller 3" size? It's a cool design and I need to know if I need to start saving my money or if I can already afford them when my turn comes around.
Yeah, I'll just squeeze the mold while it sets up! I'm mailing one out tomorrow so I'll have an idea of how much the postage will be. I don't expect the total cost to be more than $10 though.
With the right red lights in the eye sockets, they would make great taillights, or an acceptable third brake light, possibly even cut down on tailgaters!
OK...I have requests for around 25 skulls. I cast 15 today before the latex mold burned up! I have 11 that I can send out now. I mailed one today to MetalFlaked60 (he's swapping me a pinstriped panel) so now I know how much it will cost to mail... $2.21. I figure I have close to $8 each in materials (including the cost of the mold). I'll sell these 11 for $10 each and as soon as I get a new mold made (probably by Saturday) I can make some more. I'll make sure that everybody who wants one will get one...so send the payment and when I get it I'll send the skulls. Check or money order to: Chuck Ledwin 1226 Pfeifer Ln El Cajon, CA 92020 ...or PayPal to CharlieLed@cox.net
Hey Charlie, Got the skullz in the mail yesterday...they are so awesome. Thanks for getting them to me so quick too. I was hoping you share the antiquing trick with me so I can try it one of these.
I got mine yesterday too, damn its cool as hell, thanks alot...I too would like to know the antiquing.....Thanks, Mike
Mailing ya an MO for two Charlie. I'm sure you're out of the first ones so I'll take'em out of whatever batch is current when ya get the money. Thanks for doing these up,
The way that I antiqued the skull was to wipe on some Danish Oil stain and then use a rag to remove the excess from the high spots. If you can't get enough off using just a dry rag, then wet the rag with some acetone or other thinner and wipe off as much as you like. I have soaked these skulls in acetone for 10 minutes before the resin started to soften so they should be fairly impervious to damage from chemicals. The first batch of skulls were made with a latex mold which means that I had to use a mold release agent (silicone) so before you paint them you will want to wash them off with some solvent. Here's a pic of the before and after skulls with the can of stain that I used in the background...
