Well that was cfun. I enjoyed the music and the bit about the drivein and the guys in the trunk. I do recall a couple of times that there were several more than the drive-in movie barganed on.
Regarding "Shutdown"; It happened on the strip where the road is wide (Oooo rev it up now) Two cool shorts standin' side by side 'Short' was commonly used to describe a car in the 60's but I don't recall seeing 'Short' used here on the HAMB. Anybody?
According to the "ultimate hot rod dictionary" - Short n. Generally pre-1960'2 expression for virtually any car, but oftentimes describing a high-performance HOT ROD or STREET MACHINE. Term was first used in reference to city streetcars because their runs were 'short' compared to those of trains. Later, the expression evolved to includes automobiles.
Thanks for sharing, very, very kool, being 63 yrs young it also makes me wish i could go back. Thank you again barefoot
.....Have'nt heard the word"short" for a long time....use it a lot in the sixties....like the deck-out flathead...most of the cars where not as clean.......guess we were not rich enough in small town Wisconsin to have some of the later models.....just a lot of junkers...thanks for the thread
Hey Gator, you're not the only one who thought they were saying 'two cool sharks', that's exactly what I thought they were saying. In my mind, I always pictured 2 Stingrays (Corvettes) side-by-side. Thanks guys for the history lesson! GGG
