    Taylor,

Tell your dad to get to work and learn how to weld :). That door isn't too bad just looks like someone kicked the door (cow maybe). Finish stripping the bondo and take a good pict and the guys here will get you some good advice. Might not be too bad to fix.

Looking good so far...Did you get the oil leak above the filter sorted?

Don't feel bad about your door, mine are lots worse than that (Rust City)! I hope to be able to save mine with the help of some resin & fiberglass, but that remains to be seen. Maybe this coming summer?

Today I tried to get my speedometer working and had some problems. The old speedo cable spun all the time, and looked like it worked, but the end was broken, so I went and got a new cable. I pulled the old one out and hooked up the new one without a problem. I backed out of my drive way and started to go down my street, and the speedo climbed up to 15MPH, and the needle dropped. It never came back up. So I turned around and tried re connecting it to the gauge cluster and tried again with no luck. I re connected it to the trans and made sure it was tight. I then tried with out the gauge cluster to see if the cable was spinning. It started spinning but once i got out of second at a lil higher speed it stopped. So I made sure it was connected tight a few more times and still had no luck. So Im stumped....

Pulled the old fenders off so I can start sanding the bed down and fixing some dings here and there. I have other fenders that are going on, and the old ones are for sale if anyone wants em. Looks goofy without fenders....

Nothing major lateley, just lots of sanding and bondo work. Progress has slowed a bit because I got to school most of the week now.

As of right now Im gonna hold off on paint. I was getting ready to paint it soon, but I decided I'll save that for later. Im just gonna nurse the engine an trans until summer when I start working full time again, then I'll do some work on the engine and swap out the trans for a 5 speed or the automatic I have layin around. STill havnt decided yet. Until then Im just gonna sand the whole thing down. I also have to cut out and re-weld a cab corner. Im gonna keep the fenderwell headers, but cut out the mufflers and run straight pipes with fish tails coming out the back. After then engne work and trans is done Id like to paint it, but I wanna find a new drivers side door. Anyone wanna trade a fedner or 2 for a door thats in decent shape?

This is how she sits as of a few minutes ago. Ive been kind of tight on money so all I have been doing is sanding and bondo, haha. You can see the new fenders in the bed that will be going on soon. Just gotta sand em down. Gotta get rid of the old ones too. Anyone wanna buy some orignal fenders? :D

    Note all the bare metal...

taylor, i have used a set 2" drop shackles when i first lowered my 57. used them in conjunction with pulling 4 of the 7 leafs. (now my rear is flipped).
the shackles are a very easy swap. here is where i got mine from.
    good luck...

I'm running 4" drop monoleaves along with 2" drop shackles and new shocks. I have about an inch of travel. I don't hit the frame unless I'm hauling something heavy, like an engine.

    taylor,
right now all i am running is the flipped rear and original shackles. this gives me right at 1" of clearance. with the newer shocks i have, it dont bottom out unless its a big dip in the road.
when i flipped the rear and put all the leafs back in, it was right on the frame, thats why i put the original shackles back in. that gave me the 1" clearance i now have of travel.
too bad i already got rid of my dropped shackles, i could have sent them to you.

dont think it will really hurt anything, but it sounds a lot better with the 3/16" thick rubber in there...
