Mock in your radiator and fan, you look too far forward, check for drive shaft angle and clearance. Could be a tad high.

Good point. I keep comparing pan clearance to frame rail, not x-member, the lowest point, der..

I would lower it till the top of the motor mount is even with the top of the frame. Oil pan should still be above the crossmember....my 2 cents.....

You may or may not want to consider mounting the engine so it can be serviced without dis***embling half the car. A low engine is good for CG but the engine might have to be pulled to get off the oil pan.And making sure not only does the distributor clear the firewall ,but can be removed also.

My 33 chevy engine sits further back and down, still have a flat floor, can get to bellhousing bolts from top, oil pan is in the clear, trans pulls easy, have plenty of clearance for an electric or manual fan, worked good for me.

As stated mock up with body on and radiator / grill shell in. In my 35 Chevy I mounted the engine / trans low and to the rear as much as possible. Still allows me to run a flat floor with no transmission hump or firewall modifications. I run a different front x-member and still have plenty of room to work around engine bay if needed. My HEI sits in the firewall recess. I use a tube engine x-member that mounts in centre of the rails. Car sits right and no clearance issues with engine pan (Sump). Disregard the bling

Just looked at your album, very nice Phaeton! What is that front x-member?
