I picked up a stainless beer keg yesterday and I am planning on using it as a gas tank in the bed of my rpu. I was wondering if anyone here has done this, or know of anyone who has. I'm looking for some pointers on the float ***embly for the gauge.

I used one on a Harley Trike with C-cab we put in the World of Wheels in 1976. Dodge Charger flip gas cap, no gage, You might consider one out of a Model A

My buddy used one for a while in the 70s...his gas gauge was a yardstick. You could make a cool sight gauge with some clear red fuel hose between 2 ******s. One at the top and the other at the bottom on the end. Just a glance to see how much is left. You'd need to mount some 1/4" rods parallel to the verticle hose to act as guards to protect the hose. The yardstick gets old after a while.

Thanks guys, I thought about running without a gauge. But a cool looking sight gauge would work.

also you may want to get ahold of speedway motors and get some baffle foam, to keep sloshing around gas at a minimum. also they have a weld on filler nozzle with cap. part no. 617-5020 for 15 bucks. the foam is part no. 600-7050A its 8 bucks. another thing is, put the pick up tube in from the top, some states require this, so if the line comes off your tank wont empty all over the place. hope this helps, wish someone would of told me this stuff when i did mine, woulda saved some headache.

  10. With the round tank a standard gauge and float sending unit will right at three levels; full, half full, and empty. A quarter tank reading means "fill up now!"
