just bumping this up while i sip hot chocolate and dream of temps warmer than the 12* outside my window right now. i nearly get tears in my eyes when i think about this trip and i wonder when i can do it again.

  2. ^^^^^ that is what it is all about my friend ^^^^^^^

You need to take another roadtrip and do the Detroit Autorama in a few weeks.

Lots of HAMB folks and fun. A sure-fire way to fend off the winter blues.

  3. Oh, by the way, it's about 10 degrees here and I'm running at 101.5 and feeling like ****.

Looks like I'll be hanging on the HAMB a lot tomorrow as I won't be going in to work.

oh, would that i could. but school has me locked down until may. i might try to make the jalopy showdown again. that would be a good way to welcome in the season. going back to school as an adult has taught me one thing already- sometimes a day job is the easiest thing you could live through. school is tough when you know what you want from it.

damn Mark, threads like this DO work to combat the winter blahs. Heck, I think I will have to fire up the coupe and take it to Hooters tonight!

Hell of a great trip and story. Thanks for resharing.

Glad you bumped this Mark; had I known you pulled off this epic trip, I wouldn't have stood around at the Gathering of the Faithful with my finger in my nose and stumbling through small talk...

Absolutely loved this thread. We drove from LA to Miami last year for our honeymoon in a 63 Fury, this brought back many good memories.

Here's a pic somewhere in Arizona, west of the Hoover Damn. It was HOT!

    Ahhh.

This thread just warms the soul.

Which is good, because it's about 100* colder outside right now...

Yeh, dropping the pan and swapping a rear main while laying on the side of the road in the desert is no fun!

andy- no kidding! that would ****.

tim- i dont think it's in the cards this year. i'm not working now, and have gone back to being a full time student. so, i gotta save my pennies.

but, a big new england contingent is tentative for next year. lots of alter boys, etc. in on the plan. so we're kinda planning on that.

its weird that 3 years later I stumble on this tread...
your a lucky man. what a trip! the pictures are perfect and the story is one that you can tell over and over again. I enjoyed the hell out of reading all 15 page of it just now. there is nothing like the salt flats, but better yet, the trip there... or so im told anyways.. I still have another year of work to do before my project is ready for the trip of a lifetime like that. I read every ones cross country trips and stories I can, its a hell of a lot of motivation to do what needs done for a trip like that!! great story and thanks for all the great pictures.. it sure paints a great picture

Thanks man. It was an amazing experience. We are going back in 2015. People call it a trip of a lifetime, but I'm not willing to only do it once in my lifetime.

Wait a minute didn't you just do this trip again last summer? What are you going to go every other year?
Man I have to get a job where I can take time off in the summers!

2015, is the year for the epic: Bonneville-Burning Man. if i live through that, we'll plan the next one...
