Hello folks! Long time reader. Decided that I should finally get myself an account and participate! I started my hot rodding escapades in my teens during the 80's with a friend's '69 Charger RT/SE and then found myself obsessed with Mopars. I've had too many to count, but sadly adulthood and responsibilities removed me from the fun. I still have Chrysler products, my '05 300C and my wife's Durnago, but I've migrated somewhat over to the Chevy camp. Currently, I'm resurrecting a former bracket raced '88 S15. I bought it as a running project but pretty much tore it apart when I found out how hacked it really was. A Brodix head equiped 355 roller has replaced the 305 that used to reside in the engine bay, and a lot of the hack work is being repaired. The truck has been a three year project now, and I'm hoping to have her on the road by spring. Lots to do! Anyway, just thought I'd come in and say hello! Thanks! Tom
Tom, this site is for HOT RODS, & KUSTOMS, and your rides are way too new. Good Luck. firstnomad www.angelfire.com/jazz/flatlandstudio
But this does not mean that you are not welcome here! There are a lot of members that have "non hamb friendly" vehicles, they just don't discuss them here. Stick around and enjoy the h.a.m.b. and welcome from Arkansas...
Well then, way to make a guy feel welcomed. Thanks. Hot Rod: a car modified to increase its speed and acceleration. I think the truck definitely qualifies based on the definition. I don't want to step on anyone's toes or piss off any people here, but jeez that was rather rude. TZ
Thanks!! I've been coming here looking at opinions, views, tech stuff, etc. for a long time now. I spent the last few nights reading about the old street racers stories (27 pages!) and that took me back to the days of old myself (retired street racer from up in the D.C. area). Until I picked up the truck, I considered building a '34 Chevy pickup that my neighbor had in his garage. It was all apart but all there and setup for a small block. The Mrs. wasn't so keen on it so I p***ed. I guess I have an affinity for pickups. One day I'll do a rod. Actually, I have thought about throwing a Willys body on the S15 frame. I know that using a late model frame is kinda looked down upon by some, but Auto Cl***ics makes a kit to do it. Anyway... just a thought. Again, thanks for the welcome! Tom
I, for one, don't really give a **** what others think, never have/never will, as long as it's my time and money I'll use it any way I choose fit! With that being said... Check out my photo album, in my profile. The '46 Ford Business Coupe is on a modified S10 ch***is. Do a search for the "definitive S10 ch***is" post, there's a lot of good info on the subject...
It wasn't being rude at all, statement of more truth than not. NEVER DID I SAY YOU WERE NOT WELCOME !!!! firstnomad www.angelfire.com/jazz/flatlandstudio
Hey Tom, as you will see, you can discuss anything you want to here, but unless you have REALLY thick skin, it better be pre-'64 traditional (like they would have done it pre-'64)! Just be forwarned! Off the record, I like just about anything with an engine and at least 2 wheels! Oh...and I'm just southwest of you! Welcome! SDG Brett
Welcome from northern VA. I used to be a member of the Virginia Chevy Lovers and cruise at Jenro's when I was stationed at NOB in the mid '90's. Be sure to join the Virginia HAMB social group.
Welcome Tom! I used to hang out at the beach on 87th st. when I was a kid! Stick around, alot of good info on here!
Cant say I have been here long either but def. a beach res. Plan to start on the 46 Plymouth soon. I too have an S-10 project / daily driver. Nothing special just gonna drop it, paint it, and throw some decent wheels and tires on it and roll it til' it dies! Welcome man!
