Hot Rods 1956 Ford F100 Panel - "Finally In Paint"

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by FRANKTHETANK, Feb 6, 2011.

  1. I finally got the 56 Panel in paint. Now for a spring time assembly and on the road. I installed a Chrysler clip, chevy 350, Turbo 350, Ford 9 Inch with 3.50 gears.

Looks good, I've always liked the mid 50's Ford panels.

  11. 56viet: What size wheels and tires are you running? I picked up some 17 inch Torque Thrusts and I am trying to calculate the engine RPM's at 65mph. Thanks Frank

  12. They are 225-60-17 on 17x7 in the front, and 285-60-18 on 18x10 in the back.

Very nice truck. There used to be an F-100 show in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Drove my '55 down there many years ago, was a great road trip. Have since sold the truck, but was a great time.

Not a whole lot of us "Mother Truckers" out there. Those other guys just don't know how much fun they are missing. Wish to hell I'd had it back in High School. Got a color picked?? I'd suggest some sort of red. If there is a red vehicle in my class, be it car or pickup. My blue truck comes in second. Yours is really lookin great.

  15. 56VIET: The tire calculator website lists the 285-60-18 tire as 31.46 inches in diameter. Your wheels and tires look great but don't look that large. Is this diameter correct? Also, can you tell me what your engine RPMS are at 65MPH? Thanks, Frank

  16. Frank: Yes the tire diameter is about 31 inches, they just look smaller because of the large wheel openings on these trucks. At 65 mph the engine rpms are about 2500.

panel is looking really good!! what colour is that?

  18. Charger: The color is Chrysler Cool Vanilla "like you see on the Baby Bentley s". I was going to paint it PPG Vanilla Shake but the cost was MUCH more and I liked this as well. How's the weather in Manitoba?
