I spent the better part of Monday looking thru cars in a large junkyard looking for interior lights for my car. I came up empty. What I'm looking for are a couple of small lights to put under the rear seat cushion in my Tudor sedan. Also something for under the dash. Something small and not too bright. Lights like this used to be available in 60's and 70's Mopars, but all those cars are now gone. I found lights in door panels of Import cars, but nothing that I thought would look good or fit my application. Anyone have any ideas? Even from a vendor? Maybe something you've seen that might work?
    Ideas?
    Thanks
    Jim

I have a full box of different lights I pulled in a yard. They are from a bunch of different conversion vans. They seem to habe alot of accesory lights and are plentiful in the scrap yards.

Look for mid-to-late 70s Camaros and Novas or their GM cousins. There are usually lots of them around in the wrecking yards I've been to, and most of them have under-the-dash courtesy lights on the driver and passenger sides, in addition to the overhead lights. Be sure to get the switches and harnesses and the little clips that bolt to the underside of the dash to hold the bulb receptacle. These would adapt easily and nicely to your application.

DON'T hate me for this suggestion ! How about those 4" or 6" LED lights you get at Auto Zone and places like that . They are small and take up no room at all and can be well hidden so no on knows what it is . I know these are modern but you can get them in clear .
    Just a thought .

I got these out of an early 60's Falcon. Futura if you have them there.

Originally they were mounted at the base of the B pillar on sedans to shine light in the rear passenger footwell. About 3" long and shielded so the light only shines down.

I'm gonna do that in the '40--not very traditional, but I'm not that traditional anyway.

........Got some for my 39 and 40 coupe for under the dash.....works great and hidden away where nobody can see them...

  10. Quick and easy, out of site interior light is a simple round license plate light...drill a hole (w/hole saw), insert and wire. Or make a simple bracket, drill the hole and install! Works great !

Ikea has some cool aluminium drawer pulls that make nice lights. Kind of like a single louver.

Another option is to check out cabin lighting for boats. Lots of different styles, shapes, metal, and built to last.

  16. TRY looking for Honda Passport, Isuzu Trooper or Rodeo, they have some really nice small interior lights in the doors. about an 1"x2'' with 2 screws.

  19. Those GM lights are soooooo universal, they're in my '76 Cadillac....

Lincoln Town cars from 80's forward have actual lights under the seats, which sounds exactly what you want. They are fully enclosed, and made to be mounted under the seat.

You can find them under the seat :D
