That is not McPhails... McPhails 56 was at the Round Up a few years back...man I fell in love with that car. I can't find photos of it but look through 2009? Round Up photos...first year of the new place, might have been 2008. It was there...it was awesome...where is it now?
No, it was metalic blue. Go about halfway down this page for two pictures: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=4381
Here is some pics... His 50 is probably more famous but I like his '56 the best. It has so many tasteful body changes a lot of the kustom work you will just flat over look unless you know your 56 Chevys. That is a compliment to the design and the craftsmanship. My favorite mod is the top, you have to really see it in person to appreciate it. I miss seeing it around. Happy Trails, Mick
I'm looking for more pics of when this was built, i got some of dennis and his eldest son jesse helping put it together, and dennis awfully dirty from mad grinding paint, and rootin around on the floor. damn if I can find them, but I will...
I need to look through my shots now for this car, I don't know how I could have forgotten but thanks for showing me how cool a 56 can be!
Thanks everyone, when dennis told me he bought this , I was like how the hell is that ever going to be kool. I dislike 56's the most, but it turned out one of my favorites. short list of changes......headlights leaned foreward 2", packard tailights, pulled to the rear bout 4" . shaved driprail, roof scoop like a 58 chev, rib on trunk, shaved airplane on hood and extended rib . moved humps on dash to the middle instead of in front of p***engers. I miss this car also...
Now that I see this car on a regular basis, I can say, you have to see it in person ! It is kept in beautiful shape by Billy Monroe here in Jersey.
Jeff's work on ALL the cars he does is true Craftsmanship ! They are Awsome...with a capital "A" !! Here are a couple of shots I took at the KKOA in 2007 when Dennis brought it there and it was shown with Jeff's car, and other cars Jeff had worked on. Pic 1: Great view of the roof scoop, peak running down the trunklid, taillight extension/frenching, exhaust tips, license plate guard/surround, 6" inch top chop with rear window sunken into package tray...WHOPS ! DISREGARD THAT LAST NOTATION ! The angle of the sun shining on the rearwindow gl*** confused me for a minute ! Sorry Jeff, but, hey, I know you...and you COULD do that ! IN ADDITION, you can see how great the paint looks with the sun shining on it, bringing out the beauty of Jeff's metal work. Also in Pic 1: Jeff is standing on the left in the Beatnik purple shirt, and you can see the left rear fender of his '63 Galaxie peeking into the shot. Jonnie King www.legends.thewwbc.net
That car ran and drove great...... there are a lot of aftermarket parts for 56s.....It was the most difficult car Jeff and I ever built together. both of us almost got divorced from the 56 project. went through chrome hell getting the bumpers and grill done..... word of advice, save the time and trouble and just send everything you need chromed to John Wright the first time. john is a problem solver and is worth every penny. I put a 400 Pontiac Engine in that car and even though it ran great I never could get it to run cool as I'd have liked, I hate electric fans and we HAD to run one on this car. The FatLucky's interior was everything that I had dreamed of and more. Sean is super detail oriented and has an artistic vision and the ability to interpret my thoughts into seams and pleats. After billy bought the car he had a full Airride sytem installed. I was against it but he insisted and is happy with the way it sits downlow. Glad you get to keep an eye on it 00MACK..........
Ever find any build pics finkd? This is my all time favorite 56! The fact that it is a post car makes it even better imo -LUKEY-
