I need to lower the rear end on this thing like 3 or 4 inches and I can't decide which is the best way. Suggestions?
Remove two or three leafs in the transverse spring pack. Leave the main leaf. Leave the top one or two leafs. Trail and fit. If this is a new spring, it will probably settle about 2-3 inches on its own in time. Probably will need to put some extra holes in your shock mounts as the spring settles.
De-arching the spring, reversing the eyes on the main leaf, and/or longer shackles would easily get you three to four inches
Lots of options, reversed eye spring, flattened crossmmember, Pete and Jakes rear crossmsmber w/40 front spring, remove leaves from present spring, combination of above. A search should turn up a bunch of options. Frank
Get the longer shackles that Vern Tardel makes. That will get you 2.5". So-cal Sacramento sells em. You'll need to borrow a spring spreader if you don't own one already. Then take out a leaf or two. And there ya go..
Just come out to wyoming there's a ton of "muffin tops" out here just show up with a couple ding dongs and *****ies.
Best way: reverse the eyes and de-arch to the desired level. Sway way: Longer shackles? Those went out with mudflap reflectors and bolt-on stars. Use 'em and get instant oversteer. Or install the ubiquitious panhard rod, so you can use the long shackles! (?) The quality of your Deuce build is worth doing it right. Reshape that high-arched spring. If you have a spring that is going to 'settle' 2-3", you'd better find a real spring mfr.
