what size clutch and pressure plate does my 59-ab flathead with a 39 trans take and were can i get one ebay does not seem to have any on thanks
All 59 car engines were 10". Some, maybe all trucks 11". Mac's Antique Auto Parts and many others carry them. Might even try a local NAPA store. There are also some very good rebuilders out there
it really doesn't matter where the motor came from. you just need the correct clutch/pressure plate for your application. trucks must use longer pedals than cars, cause i had the wrong one in my coupe and could barely hold the pedal down!
.....10" or 11" whatever matches the pressure plates.......you can find them at local parts store or order them from Ford Barn, Mac's, or other Ford catalogs
remy824 where are you in MA? there are several shops that would have what you need on the shelf and guys that would be willing to help
We stock the repro 10" Ford clutch and pressure plates. If your engine was direct bolted to a generator, it may have a special flywheel on it.....something that is not drilled for the usual 10" clutch setup. However, any 59A type p***enger car flathead would have had that 10" clutch and the flywheel would work. If it was from a truck, it probably had the 11" flywheel, so watch what you buy. I should also have one or two of the 59A flywheels here. Let me know if you can't find what you need.
we stock the complete ***emblies (clutch, pressure plate, flywheel) lightened and balanced. a 10" will be just fine for a hot rod.
NAPA shows to have a selection of them available. http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Results.aspx?Ntt=Clutch&Ntk=Keyword&N=599001+101941+50026+2026044
