To do what , restore trim ? How do you restore trim with shark hide ? I use a buffing wheel after all the nicks and dents have been fixed . There are some good books and videos out that tells you how to fix and polish your trim . You can also try You Tube . Retro Jim

Looks like its used to protect the aluminum from the elements .Maybe good after you go through the process that Retro Jim talks about.
Usually, aluminum trim is bright anodized ('57 model & later). There's not much you can do to it without destroying the anodic coating. Once you cut thru it the aluminum is naked and subject to oxidation. It's NOT like stainless where you can hammer it back into shape and re polish it.
